The amount of income depends on how much work you do. Another responder answered with about a $55,000 national average; I suppose that's reasonable. However, there are so many different avenues of commercial appraisal it's hard to take that national average at face value.

I know a commercial appraiser who is in business for himself with 20 years experience and he clears $100,000 annually. Your success along those lines will depend greatly on your ability to run a self-employed, small business. I also know commercial appraisers that work for the county tax office that make about $45,000. The trade-off to this kind of appraisal employment is stability, structue and a consistent paycheck. So it all depends on many different things.
