Not a bribe exactly, but would it be wrong to send a dozen donuts or bagels a few days after the interview with a thank you note? I've already sent a thank you/follow up right after the interview, but they are taking 2 weeks to make their decision and I would like to stay in their minds. I'm up against 10 other interviewee's and there are 2 positions open. My interview was Tuesday, so I was thinking I'd send donuts or something the next Monday. ***Also, it's a job with the City (Public Works Department), if that matters. THANKS!

My boss's wife called me at my desk today and ask me for my certificates as supporting documents for my resume. Ive been working there for slightly over 2 weeks now. I have to pass her the certs on Monday. It seems like she s thoroughly doing her checking and Im scared she ll ask for my appointment letter with previous employers coz I aint have any! All the previous companies I worked for are small scale and very very dishonest bosses. Needless to say to stand up for my rights (they didnt pay full salary), I got into their bad books. This is the first time I got a fantastic job and a promise for increament once Ive been confirmed (1-2mths time). I love my job and now Im scared she ll ask for proof of employment in the past now. FYI, I might have exaggerated in my resume abt my job scope of previous employment (doesnt anyone when it comes to resume??). The last thing I want is for her to call my ex bosses for verification. What shd I tell her? Does she has a right to fire me?

I sent a formal cover letter and resume out last week and had a job interview with the company this week. In the cover letter, I wrote 'Dear Ms. Smith'. However, at the job interview, she introduced herself as Beckie. Now I want to send a 'Thank you' note to her, so that she will remember me during her employment selection. My question is should I start the letter with 'Dear Ms. Smith' or 'Dear Beckie'? I don't want to seem overly formal since the interview went well and she was friendly but I don't want to seem too informal either, like she's a friend I've known for years.

Thanks for any advice that you may have!

I have recently joined an NGO as a Community Service Volunteer. I am also on the verge of joining a company as their Summer Intern. Can anybody please tell me what kind of documents should I take from the above-mentioned, which is going to prove that I worked for them and also hold me in good stead when I appear for job interviews. Is an Appointment Letter, a Termination Letter and a Recommendation Letter enough for both the cases? Thanks in advance for your answer...

Ciao!
Sam

I've already called in sick the day before my 2 days off and really need to take the day after off (making 4 days off). I only risk getting written up but I need to take care of urgent business that I have put off for too long already. Do I try to squeeze it in my lunchbreak and go over, which I've unsuccessfully tried before (could still be written up), or do I just do it?

What I'm asking is, what items do you NEED to be an agent? I have the computer system that they want...but what type of headset do you need to have? One with a headphone jack or one with a USB plug in? And how do you hook up your system so that it works properly? Do you need to connect your phone to the PC some way? And if you have a corded phone, how does the headset come in to play?

Help! Someone please explain!

A work colleague is doing a sponsered "something or another". At the time I offered to sponser them £20 because someone else was doing offering the that amount so I thought I'd do the same but now, after some thought, I only want to give them £10.

Does anyone have some advice as to how I `approach the subject without causing offence?

I just gave my two weeks notice at my job. Is there a difference between just flat out quiting and giving a two week notice? I thought there was but, my coworker thinks that they are the same. I thought quiting was like no notice and you say "I quit" then leave. Then a two week notice is giving your employeer time to find a replacement with in the 2 weeks. Please help.

I recently moved to the Chicago suburbs. I am having a hard time finding a RN position. I sent out resumes, but they all go to HR and it seems like it's taking forever for anyone to get back to me. Is there anyway to speed up the process? Also, does anyone know any good paying positions outside of the hospital?
