I am not a routine person and I want to find work that I can do daily on my own, from the computer. The only problem is all the online work from home ads seem like gimicks. I don't really want to have to pay up front. Anyone know of anything that seems appropriate?

I want to go back to college in order to improve my job prospect. I have two options either to read M.S in Computer Security or Network Engineering. I do not know which one has a brighter job opportunity. I will be grateful for your assistance in deciding which one to do. Thank you

ok i work as a carer part time while im studying to be a midwife, thing is while i love the job i do and the people i do it for i just cant abide the management or their policies.i.e.dont sit chatting to the clients clean the toilet instead.
i thought the role of carer was to tend to the physical and emotional needs of the clients thus talking to them.
yet if we do even if all our other jobs are done,we get a warning!!!this stinks.i have applied to a few other jobs and am currently awaiting approval to become a foster carer for abused children, and i am a mum to 3 so i am not going to be bored if i quit and we can afford for me to quit, but will i be letting my co-workers and the clients down if i do?im torn.please advise.thanks

They said they were essentially lookin for 3-4 people to come in for actual face to face interviews.. but after we talked they said I should hear something back from the hr guy, but we didn't set up any more interviews. Do you think this is because I didn't get one or they just haven't decided yet and have more people to phone?

I have worked for my current company for almost a year, and I really enjoy my job, the plce I work, and the people I work for and with. (I work in a feild office of a huge oil corporation) However, I don't make much money. I am a single mom, and just looking to keep my head above water. I don't live extravagently, (modest 2 bedroom apartment, older model car, etc.) But I do need a pay increase of about 25% just to get by. It is a struggle every month to pay bills.

I have mentioned this to my supervisor, but due to corporate policy, her hands are somewhat tied. Raises are given annually...and only at around the rate of 3-5%. Again, I love my company but I just can't afford working here anymore. I have thought of a second job, but I would like to also spend some time with my kids. So do I look for other jobs that make more money? (There are plenty of those in my area.) Or do I stick it out and continue to scrape by?

At my job, they gave an annual increase plus a merit raise to everyone with the same job title. However, I did not recieve the annual raise nor the merit raise, due to a "NI" (Needs Improvement) in performance.
Are they allowed to not give me the annual increase?
Anyone (most) who did not recieve an NI, got bumped up in pay, and also recieved a merit raise on top of that.
I don't see how they can not give you the annual increase based upon performance, when they can hire someone not knowing their performance at the same rate that I should be making.

I got a call from the hr manager earlier this week from an interview that i went on two weeks ago. She said that she wanted to inform me that the process was taking longer than expected, and that she was leaving and taking two weeks off 'cause she is getting married this weekend, and that she wanted to call and inform me of this because she did not want to leave me hanging. She stated that she would get in contact with me when she returned on the first of May.

I want to take all of this in a good way, but I am not exactly sure how to feel. I know that none of my reference have been checked as of yet, but my current employer did not check my references either. So i just wanted to know how would you all take this phone call?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Now this may be stupid but here goes. I am a temp at this company and I applied of a job here. So my supervisor ask me to give him my resume and then asked if I can stay till 5:30 the boss may want to interview you that was on tuesday so I did then I went to the boss office at that time but when I got there he was not there and my supervisor had left. It is now Friday and I am concerned that maybe they did want to do the interview and are saying I did not show up. I want to know what should I do now. Should I just go into the office and ask when are they interviewing for the position because as far as I can tell they did not definately tell me that my interview was 5:30 that evening just that it might be(and plus he was not even there).

A job opportunity was offered to me by another company in January with a healthy salary, my present employer said that they will match the salary if I stayed with them which I did. I was paid the new salary since February. Today (20.04.07) they are reducing my salary by £11K starting in May because they cannot afford me (so they say, even if the company is doing well). My performance is still at the top, nominated best sales person for year 2006 and I am still the highest performer. Do I have any rights? and what are they? Thank you all for your help.
