I decided to take a day off from work ... as a mental health sick day. Does anybody else feel like someitmes they just can't face all the drama at work? My boss who is a total Back Stabbing B-tch got pregnant again with a guy she totally trapped, he's not going to marry her and yet she get's pregnant with him again. Not saying this guy is cool for letting this happen. The drama is too much. Taking a day off did I do the right thing?

A friend of mine was recently informed by his supervisor that his company is planning on laying off his entire department. He later on notice that they were giving people warning for stupid stuff. For example, one of his co-worker took an extra 10 minutes for lunch so they wrote her up for that. OK so before they fired him he decided to give his two weeks notice. In the letter he mentioned that he got another job which is not true - he's still looking. My question is, can he apply for unemployment even though he voluntarily resigned? I read somewhere on the NYS Dept. of Labor website that he can get benefits if he says he quit b/c of transportation.. meaning he lost his way of transportation to and from work. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am a pharmacist from Philippines. I've heard that US doesn't accept pharmacists with 4-year course study. Is it true? I've researched that as long as the education is equivalent to the condition given by the pharmacy board of the particular state then it's ok. But what exactly do they mean by equivalent? I've heard that even we finished masteral degree or Pharm.D. here in the Philippines, we are still not accredited. Is it true?

When you sit down at your computer to start your search, where are the first 3 places you go and what do you search for? Is it job specific? Industry specific? Job hunting techniques?

I'm a little stuck and want to know what YOU do, not what I should do. Thanks!

I'm talking like 2 am to 8 am type of jobs, where I can work part time at night because I like going to night school from 6 pm to 10 pm and sleeping during the day time. So far I can only think of UPS and Fed Ex but I rather do a job with less labor.

THIS IS NO JOKE. Why does he do this? It is very rude. What can I do about it? My colleague just waffs an envelope near her nose to get rid of the smell, but I think my boss' behaviour is uncalled for. What are my rights in this situation? I feel very embarrassed.

I had an extremely successful interview for a position and the company rushed for a 2nd interview with the final decision maker which I thought also went pretty well. The 2nd interview lasted over 2 hours. The company is a brand new company, the office has not even opened yet but the position I am applying for is usually hired 4-6 months prior to opening. They initially said they wanted the position filled by the 1st week of March. I have followed up with them numerous times and they continue to tell me the position has not been filled yet and they have not made a decision. I've been given numerous reasons as to why it has not been filled (construction issues, budget issues, etc). Yet they have not yet said they still want me. I would move on from this position as I feel the companies follow up reflects their professionalism but I REALLY want this position. How long & how often should I continue to follow up?

I'm working for a med. size company under a job agency for 3 weeks. Is it too early to ask whether I'll be offered a full time position or not? I'm very eagle on getting a full time and I will have an interview on the coming Friday. I told my interviewer over the phone I'm working as a temp for a company right now and it should be ended in around 6 more weeks. (The agency told me the assignment is a 2 month assignment at the beginning).
Since, I really have no clue whether they will hire temp (me) to be a full time perm. or not, I don't want to lose the opportunity of getting a full time position. For the first 3 days of work, my supervisor kept saying I'm a bit slow and such and such, but she did not say that anymore after the first 3 days. Thus they (the co-workers as well) taught me a lot on the software they are using right now.
I really like the company I'm working for right now, what should I do in order to see the chance of become a full time here?

I had to quit a job because of health issues (chronic arm and hand pain). At the time several doctors told me I had carpal tunnel; the staff was sad to see me go, especially since they thought I could recover from carpal tunnel, but I hadn't accumulated leave time to take off work. I finally went to a top surgeon, and it turned out that what I had was a lot more severe than carpal tunnel. He scheduled me for surgery immediately--and I had three operations on one arm. Now three weeks later, I am doing incredibly better. I also had a great surgeon. I'm typing right now and feel fine. How could I approach the supervisor? Should I explain the whole situation--that my condition was worse than I thought--but now I'm fine. I know they were disappointed to see me go.I left the job 6 weeks ago and could go back next week.

There is nowhere for me to hang out that makes me feel good about myself.Sometimes i feel like that i want to get a break from school work and have conversations with others. It gets very boring other wise. When i get bored at home from school work , i visit the local starbucks and see some of the people i know. They are not very educated and try to put me down. I decided not to go there any more but i failed finding any other place. I have to admit that i am 33 years old now. Not as attractive as some years ago. I was making friends easily before with young people and now is hard. For six years i sotped going to school after graduating from community college. I started University with double majored of German and aero space engingering Spring of 2005 and got stuck in calculus3, because i took the other two calcs six years ago.So now that i am not doing aero space anymore, i am left with German only. That makes people to make even more fun of me.

I have been reading about the University of Phoenix and how a degree from there is worthless and no employer will even look at your resume. I have been attending this University myself for some time and I have to say that so far I have learned a great deal. Just in the 6 months I have been there, what I have learned would help me a great deal with certain jobs. How can someone say that No degree is better then a degree ?? You do learn '! How is education a bad thing?
I know many people with no degree's get into good jobs and make good money, so how is it that with a degree from UOP that you will not even be considered for any job in America ?? Without a degree I have never been turned down for any job I have interviewed for, so with a degree and education and knowledge, someone is going to tell me that I have no chance to even be considered for any job! I have to find this total B.S. and very ridiculous. People that have degree's from UOP please give me your input on your job hunts?
