I was a cashier at WalMart for 7 years and overall, I liked it. In spite of the claim that it attracts rednecks, I've seen people from all walks of life come through my line.
As far a schedules were concerned, it depended on who was doing the schedule. One guy got all the registers covered & gave people the time off they needed. Others weren't as good at it.
Working in a retail store it tough. You have to stay nice when customers grumble & blame you for stuff. The hours aren't too predictable. If it is slow in your department another department will "borrow" you to help them stock or something.
I think all the people who complain about "slave labor" are just not used to working.

no, it's a job. Work your way up and you can make alot of money. or get the experience and go somewhere else if you don't like it down the road. b/c walmart was sued a couple of years ago for paying men lots more money then women. So do your research too once you moved up to management level. But it is a job none the less.

Any job is good as long as you enjoy it and do your best. I worked for Walmart for 5 years till they release me in January for missing too much work. For my defense, I have been chronically ill for quite some time. I don't blame them for letting me go. They were really nice to me for many years it just got to the point where there was nothing more they could do to help me.

Only if you're allergic to $, or junk. Just joking. A pay check is a pay check. No one says you have to work there forever. Use it as a stepping stone. Stay as long as you need to and then move on to something better.

No. It's no different than working in Target, K-Mart,
or other stores like them. If you are satisfied with the
pay and any benefits then you are doing fine.
Wal-Mart will be paying employees a share of profits too.

An honest job is an honest job.
Don't let work get in the way of school and your good.
Do what you got to do.
Good luck.
