I'm writing my reference sheet and wondering if a professional reference sheet should include a synopsis of the reference and what that reference might be able to say about you.
For example, "Mr. Smith was my supervisor at Widgets, Inc. Under his leadership I organized a new form of Widget identification and implemented it in four regional Widget Factories. He can attest to my strong work ethic and leadership skills."
Is something like that necessary or even appropriate?

We all get those spam mails from time to time offering money or allowing you to keep what you purchase. Anyone ever looked into this or actually done it. Are they nothing more than a big scam?

I believe I deserve more as someone playing a huge role in helping my boss' company grow. He's making alot because of me, his son, and 1 other. I've been here since a year after it was established. He's promised a benefits package since more than a year after I started. Last July I inquired about it and a raise because I was doing an awful lot at 12 an hour. He raised the wage to 14 and told me because I was a salaried employee I can only get a raise annualy. 2.50 a year. All this time I didn't really know for sure the difference between a salary and a wage. Now I know. Recently he said I was a waged employee. Is he allowed to change things up like this? I didn't ask for a raise in Jan. because I was told I was a salaried employee. I get the feeling when I ask him about it he'll deny everything he said. Please help. I never got paid for time + 1/2 or anything. I was neither a salaried or waged employee. Can he do this? There is alot more to this, I just cant wright anymore.

I worked hard for a hospital in Texas for 3 mos and never got any complaints for my performance. I was also paid a lower salary than my counterparts of other races (and they did not have more experience). About 3 days before my 90-day eval. (the end of my "probation period"), my director came to me and said he wanted to extend my probation for another month because I "was not meeting department standards". I continued working and then one week into my extended probation I walked into the office and was promptly dismissed. Texas is an at-will state and employers can terminate you for "any reason" but there was NO REASON. I had 1 absence and the other girl working there had10 abscences and she was only fired after failing to show up or call in. My (former) job was posted for 1 week then filled by an internal "friend" of my director. Also even before I had my evaluation I was told by a friend who works at another place that my director was asking if a girl was interested in my position!

i want to have plenty of different experiences in many different kinds of job's. so i can be more well rounded and able to work anywhere doing anything. plus i'm trying to find a nitch, something that i enjoy that would make good money. but i'm afraid that all these different jobs for only four months at a time might look like i'm some kind of flake that can't cmmit to something long term. i do have an excuse for the breif times at the different jobs. it's because we're a military family and we've moved more in the last three years than i'd care to get into detail about.

I've had this debate with a friend. She seems to think that she was refused a job due to a consumer credit check. I told her if you are really good at what you do and have references to back it up ~ credit shouldn't be a problem. Because people lose jobs, have health problems, etc. ~ that they can't control. So, this shouldn't be a reflection of their ability to perform. I also told her that the only time a job rejection due to credit should be the case is if your job involves managing budgets ... or is "financial" in nature. She seems to think all jobs big or small can be adversely affected by bad credit. True or false? And, if it's true ~ wouldn't they be required to tell you?

I'm expecting to hear from a few employers about the status of a job soon, but I want to hold out for another one ... is it okay to ask THAT company for an earlier follow-up interview? Or, delay the OTHER companies by two weeks? The company I really like wants a follow-up in three weeks. The other companies have said I'll know in one week. And, they're all strong possibilities. One of them, I was brought in by an executive. The others by recruiters who've been working very hard on my behalf. I don't want to accept one -- only to leave upon hearing from my top choice. The biz world I live in is very small. I'd like to ask my top choice to move the meeting up to one week, without seeming pushy -- or showing disregard for their schedules. Any suggestions? Have any of you faced this dilemma ... Bird in hand, worth three in a bush!

I'm quitting my job and I called ufcw to cancel my membership, they ask me when I'm quiting and I said in the beginning of April and they said I still have to pay for the union fees of that month even though I'm only working 3 days of that month. That's a rip-off. My assistant manager said I shouldn't pay for it because I'm already quitting, but I don't know if it can go onto collection if I don't pay.

When I first started college, my goal was to be happy with what I was doing. I quickly moved to a University to pursue that dream. Fast forward two years and I am at the University working on a B.S. in Kinesiology.

Some things that have influenced me to pick up the idea that maybe a life more luxurious would be something I would want to go after, rather than just getting healthy (I know all the knowledge -I- myself needs.)

Im considering switching ideas to Accounting, seeing how they make a large sum of money compared to what I wanted todo (personal training). I'm after a life where I am comfortable. Right now I am a waiter and living from day to day and hate it. I even sometimes loath dealing with people (albeit I am considered an Ambivert).

Any suggestions?

I had an interview last friday and the manager said, they would call back within a week if any of us got the position. Well, only one other girl was trying for the same position as me. The manager loved my tag line presentation. Ok, so, my question is how long does it usually take for them to actually call back? I am cute, tall and slim so that isn't the problem. I wore natural makeup, my hair up in a clippy claw and looked like I was ready to take a walk on the beach. I wore Hollister attire and this manager asked me afterwards "you've been recruited right?" I was like "yes, by a couple of managers." So, I guess I am just nervous cause I haven't heard from them yet. I would really like this job, cause I am gonna go into fashion designing...even the manager said, "this is the perfect job for you." So, why have they not called yet? Do you think I got the job...thanks in advance for all of your input...
