Hi guys! I was wondering if some one on here could help me with some questions I have to research on for a report I need to do...the kind of field I would be interested in writing about is web designers, graphic design, people who work in print etc...so if any of you here is in one of these professions (or anything similar) I would really appreciate your help.

---------------------

Prepare a written Report of 1500 words which analyses your chosen job function under the headings, Company Context, Job Function, Knowledge, Skills and Prior Experience Specification and Responsibilities. You should also give an indication of salary, holiday entitlement and working hours and promotion prospects.

Thank you

I have worked 16 contracted hours per week in a shop for the past 2 years, plus occaisonal overtime, always excelling on sales, attendance and performance. Now I have just been told today that I, (as well as others) am having my hours slashed by half, as the company cannot afford to pay the hours. I am expected to give 4 weeks notice if I leave, why cant they give me the same notice? Someone I know outside the company who has worked as a shop manager informs me that this is illegal. Before I go and sign on the dole, is there action against the company that I should be taking?

thank you for all advice..

Yours in tears and panic!

I've worked for same place over 20 yrs. but business is & has been bad for last 5 yrs. and worse now than ever. It's so stressful w/extreme financial problems, credit hold, etc. I so want to leave & have been looking & interviewed twice. But, feel so guilty for not trying to stick w/it. I go back & forth EVERYDAY with this - stay - leave - stay - leave. I pray all the time for an answer. I know I have to make that choice but any advice out there ??

you work with a company, you get paid well. but your ideas were never applicable, and your coleagues are critical of your work, which often subject for scrutiny.
However, your boss is not bit bothered regardless of your work results!

I am going to school to for mortuary science. I am almost done with my general ed courses and then I have to go through an interview with the head of the program before I can start the actual program/classes. The thing is, it says having at least one years experience is highly recommended before entering the program (for obvious reasons). I don’t have any, and I don’t have any ‘hook ups’ either in the business. But who would want to hire someone in that field who has NO experience?! What should I do?

Because I think I have pretty good math and brain skills and because my school offers very good engineering program, I want to be an engineer. My father, however, is kinda opposing the idea (he also studied electricity and such, worked in subway systems), because he says an engineer has not much contact with the people and is basically "stuck" in an office room, or even worse in unsanitary or dangerous factories and such.
I know engineering varies by speciality, but I'm thinking about mechanical and civil, and I would like to know what my life would be like. Do you engineers have at least a decent exposure to the social life or all you do is basically desk work and such?
I love people and I would hate sitting in an office for 40 hour or more per week staring at computer.
I hope I didn't sound too negatively and if there is some misconception plz correct me. Thank you.

ok, i am a married college student who has decided to take a part time job. it is at a nursing home and would be about 3 days a week. this is my question. my husband and i have planned about four little weekend trips for this summer and fall and one large vacation, which we have already paid for or have paid on and cannot get refunds. when this job is offered to me (and likely it will be) how do i let the employer know about these and ask for the time off?

I am looking either to start an at home business or work from home. I don't feel I get enough time to spend with my kids. I don't mind either working late at night after the kids are in bed or napping. I just hate my job and want something fast and uncomplicated.
