I was asked to include a salary expectation with my resume for the current job I am applying for. How can I phrase this successfully? Just looking for a simple but effective line or two. Thanks!

It's really not too professional to do that, because the salary topic is usually brought up by the employer during an actual interview. - But at the interview, be prepared to provide a history of your salaries and keep a number in your head that you've researched for that position.

If you have experience in similar positions, state your salaries from those positions and say that you'd expect it to be close, but slightly higher b/c you consider those positions to be experience gained for the position in which you are now applying. Another tactic: If you want a salary around $46,000 don't say that simply state $40,000s. They may look @ it as not being specific enough, but then they may also look @ it as negotiable.

Employers use this as a screening out toool. Instead of boxing yourself into a salary I would state that my salary expectation is dictated by what the employer would like you to do and follow it up with a range to say that based on your experience and academic qualifications you fell that a range of x-y is adequate.

Good luck
