what kind of job is good for a teenager who has had no work experience? Any specific places?

How old is the teenager?

I work in a small public library and we have a teen working for us. She needed a work permit and works only 20 hours a week. She is about 16 years old. So, the teen may want to call around to see if jobs like this are available.

For other jobs, I suggest trying the fast food places or maybe a grocery store. My friend has a son who works as a stock boy and the store is very good about working around his school schedule. He bags groceries and rounds up the shopping carts in the parking lot.

Another job in the grocery store- cashier.

Be prepared for standing a lot and working with the public!

Try Cold Stone Creamery. That's where I got my first job two years ago. It's a great place to start out. The training videos are very thorough so there's little confusion when starting work. If the other stores are anything like the one in my city they would be flexible with hours. It was also rated one of the top places for teens to work in Seventeen Magazine (along with Jamba Juice, Hot Topic, Wet Seal, YMCA, Build a Bear Workshop, Best Buy, Marriot Hotels, Applebee's, and Regal Cinemas). I have a friend who works at Best Buy and loves it. He has worked there for two years and plans to work there all through college; however, this was not his first job.
I hope this helps. Good luck job hunting.
