ok, i am a married college student who has decided to take a part time job. it is at a nursing home and would be about 3 days a week. this is my question. my husband and i have planned about four little weekend trips for this summer and fall and one large vacation, which we have already paid for or have paid on and cannot get refunds. when this job is offered to me (and likely it will be) how do i let the employer know about these and ask for the time off?

It might be better if you tell them before you
are offered the job.

If I were interviewing you and you told me, I'd see that you'd be taken care of. But I hate surprises.

I hired a person that on their first day was telling me of the days she needed off.
There was no second day.

After you are offered the position and have accepted notify your manager that you have vacations that were planned and paid for prior. Make sure you have all the dates that you will be off so they can plan accordingly. As long as you give them enough notice it shouldn't be a problem. I had a vacation planned when I was offered the job I have now. Actually, they wanted me to start the day I was to leave. I just told the manager I couldn't start that day because I was going to be on vacation. So, I just started the following week.
Good Luck!

I am assuming you have already had your interview. When you are offered the position, I would definately mention the trips that will cause you to take time off. most employers will not have a problem with the time when they know up front about it.

(I started my last position 5 years ago and worked for 8 days and then had a pre-planned vacation and it was not an issue)

I would be up front. Inform them the vacations were scheduled before you started looking for work, and that you can't get the money back. I suggest you offer to work other days to make up the time, instead of just assuming they should give you the time off. For example, if the work week is normally Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and you need Thursday and Friday off, offer to work Monday and Wednesday that week.

I would, however, see if you can reschedule some of the smaller vacations for times when they will not interfere with your work. Most hotels are flexible so long as you alert them in advance. So make the effort to work around your new job before taking time off.

First be efficient that it is your very last verify as they have a suitable to withhold the quantity of funds they imagine the uniforms fee till eventually they get them back. Now imagine not ordinary about what you opt for with a uniform. that belongs to a business enterprise you do not artwork for. and finally the worst you may do is badmouth them. If that is actual, the international will understand, easy and easy. the more severe they're, the extra sturdy that's to make up what they lose. You lost the pastime by way of lack of work? From what you tell me that is occurring by way of business enterprise practices on their area. get rid of the grudge now and comprehend there is wheels on the toolbox for a reason. you've a commerce. do not complicate issues by technique of having a record which will carry you back.
