THIS IS NO JOKE. Why does he do this? It is very rude. What can I do about it? My colleague just waffs an envelope near her nose to get rid of the smell, but I think my boss' behaviour is uncalled for. What are my rights in this situation? I feel very embarrassed.

Your boss is very juvenile and crude. In his primitive mind he is marking his territory and declaring himself master. He is a H.R. lawyer's nightmare. Prepare your resume and start looking for another job while you still have this one. When you have accepted another job and give notice and they ask why, be sure and tell them. Good Luck.

My friend had a similar problem with a colleague who had B.O. everyone knew about it and in the end she told him and bought him some shower gel for christmas. Seeing as its your boss its different, but it doesn't make it right. Someone should tell him how discusting he is an shove a cork up his butt! Maybe leave a post-it on his desk that way he will get the message and he won't know it was you. :) x

It's a form of bullying. Actually illegal here in the UK I've been told by my Solicitor Step-Daughter, although she knows of no one who has actually taken their boss to court over it. Still, it may have gone to a company tribunal, and the results quietly hushed up.

Lots of things are considered bullying these days and are actionable.

Doubt you could ever do anything about it in the US though. Companies have too much control over your Congress to ever allow bosses to be punished for bullying at work.

How disgusting! My do men think this is an acceptable habit? You have every right to tell him you think this is not appropriate - and point out to him that he STINKS. Is there not anyone above him that you could have a quiet word with? If not, perhaps try spraying air freshner around his rear end everytime he does it - you have the right to do whatever you like, if he does whatever he likes, surely?

Oh my!!! If it's making work impossible for you, see a lawyer! Do you work in a company with a H.R. department? Maybe you could talk to them about what to do?

He's doing it to upset you. Thinks it funny. Not a lot you can do about it apart from complaining to his superior, but then he'll probably make your life hell after that.
