I worked for a cleaning company that cleans an office. I empty the trash, my son does recycling, and my sister does the cleaning. We work 3 hours a night, 5 days a week. We all do our job good and out of the blue we all got fired. My boss said things are changing and it doesn’t involve you. Is there anything we could do about this? She wont even tell us why we were fired.

Am currently working, so it's a bit difficult to get away from work to interview for other jobs. However, if a potential job is very attractive (title, description), I'll make the time. Was approached by a company that found my resume on Monster. Contacted me for an interview, but provided no job title or description up front. Asked for the title, got it ("I think this is what they're interviewing you for," is what she said) Asked for a job description 3 times and finally got the description of the position that would be 'below' me. Said there was no formal description in place and they'd give me the description during the interview. If they're that disorganized that they can't provide something so basic, that raises red flags in my mind. Granted, it could be a new position, but they should have their ducks in a row 'before' they start interviewing candidates and wasting everyone's time. Thoughts??

Just a note my boss has told me I do an awesome job at work ...I got a job in October and they were offering 10.00 to be an office assistant, I got them to go to 11.00 because I was at 12.00 at my last job and they agreed to raise me to 12.00 in two months. Well, my kids have been sick a lot lately and I have been late to work a lot and missed some work. My boss and I had a talk and we agreed for me to start at a later time so I wouldn't miss so much work. He said if I went to work for two weeks straight I would get a raise. Well today he told me they wanted me to go for two months without being late and they would probably raise me 50 cents!! The other lady that works there has worked there for about 10 months and does the same thing as I do and makes 14.00 an hour. I have been there for 5 months and make 12.00. So by the time I my two months is up I will have been there for 7 months making 12.50? Don't you think by the time I hit 10 months like her I should make the same amount

If you got fired from a retail job and then you apply for positions, what would you put in the box of the application where it says"Reason for leaving"? Or when the interviewer asks you if you have ever been discharged from a previous job? I worked at a Clothing store in Houston Texas for 4 years and whenever my friends and family came to buy things, I would give them higher discount rates than normal. When my manager found out, he fired me on the spot. What should I do for other positions? Should I hide the fact that I got fired or should I tell them the truth. Please HELP!!

I am applying to jobs all over America and it seems like "everyone" wants a few years of exp. I just wanted to know if I could in fact use my 4 year degree as some sort of exp. in any given field. Because it seems kinda unfair, that some person that does not have a single year of education, can with 2 years of work exp. earn more than myself, but maybe thats just life. =)

I would love some help and advice my father has worked for a company for 17 years and has given 100% dedication in those years working alot of shift work under extreme pressure and also doing the job of three when superiors are off! Recently an accident happened at work when a fellow worker hurt his hand but returned to work straight away and apparently it happens almost every day. He was called up to office and was told they would get back to him. My father continued to work and was even asked to do overtime that very weekend. TWO WEEKS LATER he was given the sack after 17 years of service with excellent attendance record and no disiplinarys. Is this not fair one accident in 17 years and he is given the sack does he deserve this????? If you can give good advice I would appreciate it as my father has always been a good hard working man and does not deserve this!!!!!

Here goes: I've worked in IT for 7+ years but am looking to get out of the corporate rat race and am looking to do something on my own. Ideally I'd like to relocate to a rural area where living is cheaper and the quality of life is better but it seems that the best work is always clustered around the larger cities. What type of work would be best for someone in my situation? I've been dreaming of relocating to a rural area for years but the lack of work in those areas has always deterred me from taking the next step.

To all employers out there would you hire someone with an accounting degree from the University of Phoenix. This college fits well with my schedule and I find the courses challenging but worry about receiving gainful employment because there seem to be many people who think that going back to school as an adult at UOP makes your degree worthless. I just can not attend a traditional college schedule and keep gainful employment at the same time. Serious responses only. Thanks.
