I am scheduled for a non-managment position interview next week and just don't feel comfortable wearing a jacket. I usually wear a dress shirt, dress pants, dress shoes and a tie. Is this to casual?

I think what you are planning to wear is very appropriate. It is still professional even without the jacket, and much dressier than business casual. Unless the interview is with an extremely conservative employer where you will have to wear a full suit in your employment, you should be fine. Best of luck in your interview!

It's the interviewer's opinion that matters on this question! But you can't ask the person this in advance.

Do you want the job? Then the safe bet is to wear a tie and jacket. I know you don't like it but it's only for an hour or so. It's not a big deal! You make it sound like it's a chinese water torture!

Wear a tie and jacket to the interview!

I went to an interview today, wore a suit but left coat in car cause I wasn't comfortable, when I get there most people interviewing are wearing a suit. Suits just make a certain impression, but if you look good in a tie and shirt then go for it, but thats not a suit and some but not all interviewers will hold it agaisnt you.

Unless it's an extremely stuffy type office, I think wearing a nice dress shirt, pants, and shoes would be fine. You just need to look presentable and also comfortable. If you won't be comfortable in a suit, it will show in the interview.

All good answers....although I'm an electrician, so I can show up at the interview wearing Dickies and work boots. waaahahahaha! Yeah, the nice slacks, button-down shirt + tie is probably okay, but if you primped a nice suit, it couldn't hurt either. YOU NEVER GET A SECOND CHANCE TO MAKE A FIRST IMPRESSION!

It can't hurt to wear the suit... you're almost there anyways.

You never know what the interviewer's preference is. It's better to be a little over-dressed than under-dressed.

absolutely! so long as appearance is neat. i recommend collared shirt, no shorts, remove visible piercings, excessive jewelery. sounds like you have it nailed. just act professionally.
