I stared my job early last year as an Event Coordinator for my city, which is a field I have been in for about 4 years. I enjoy the work and have never had a problem with the hours because I was fairly compensated for overtime. Because of the nature of the job, I must work weekends and many holidays. It can be a high stress job, as many times i am working an entire week for at least 10-12 hours a day. I do not have any benefits, and was recently told that I will only get 5 paid days off this year (not including holidays, which I work). Furthermore, i do not get comp. time. If I work 100 hours one week, I feel like I should be compensated somewhere. Also, because I do not oversee any employees, I am legally only supposed to work 40 hours /wk. I have approached my boss about the situation numerous times, and the answer I get is that "that is the policy". What do I do? Do I talk to her boss, which is a board of directors? Am I asking to be compensated too much?

My contract ended in December, but I am still working with my current employer. My old contract stated that I would give three weeks notice, but I have just received an almost-immediate job offer that I have been waiting months for. Am I legally bound by the expired contract? Did my continued work imply consent to a new (yet to be signed) contract? Thanks in advance...

I have a good work history--4 years hear, 4 years there--but I am switching careers.

I accepted a good job in my new field (journalism) that I start today. I have to move for it.

But there is a good possibilty that I will be offered an entry-level job that will lead me to the position I really want to be in.

So--I move and a few weeks later I will have to come back. I am stressed, but is it better for me to take the job that will get me the career I want.

worked for a company for 10+ yrs and assistant to the president of the company. After his one year aniversary of soberity, the disarray in business applications is causing my job to become varied in job description. I'm not getting much help or answers. You can't say anything about it, but it's not helping #1 for the work environment when 75% of my day is calming those who don't understand the scattered thoughts from him and the other 25% trying to resolve issues on my own, hoping I've made the right choices because I can't get answers. She disapears and takes many "mental health" days and works after hours so there is no human contact and thoughts can be clearer. Should I stick with it, move on, say something or just keeping on doing what I need to do to keep the business a float on my end? How do I know this???? The wife of a recovered alcoholic (I know everyone has a different experience), but it's like living with my husband after his first year. I LOVE my job, but need my sanity

I know that myself and 2 other colleagues are due to be made redundant tomorrow. He has not made us aware of the redundancies, however he isnt the most intelligent and we found a letter in his notes saying this. We are in the UK and have been in our positions for less than 2 years. What money are we due? Does our employer need to give us a notice period? thanks

I am a carer and I have been doing that for 4 years now. We have a new manager who for a change has noticed potential in me to further my career. But my dream job has always been to work with animals mainly horses or dogs, I used to do this before I was a carer but theres no money in it so I put it behind me and moved on.
However I had a phone call from a friend who owns an animal therapy centre they have offered me a job on 3months trial as an animal therapist working with dogs, cats, horses etc. But I will have to go part time as a carer as it's ontl 18 hours a week and i'm on 3 months trial it's less money too. But my boss rang me to pop in to see him today I've just got back and i'm in total confusion as to what to do because I have been offered the seniours post which is more money and better prospects of moving up the lader.
I really don't know what to do as I love animals and would be very happy in that job but on the other hand I'm happy in my job at the mo too. HELP!!

I was offered a job to contact existing customers monthly that have been sold our real estate marketing service to make sure they are using it correctly and to answer their questions. After the 12 month period, I am responsible to get them to sign a new license. Is this a good career move, or is this a telemarketer in disguise? I am required to be on the phone for 3 hours per day. I have a BA in Advertising and strong career goals. I don't know if this is going to help or hinder my career path.
