If you like computers so much why not become a computer programmer. If you are not able to get into Dell immediately why not apply for a similar job elsewhere to build experience and then reapply when a job comes available with Dell. Sometimes it is hard to find work as employers like experience so you may find you have to start from the bottom and work up way up. If this is what you truely want to do stay focused and you will achieve your dream. Or if you are still in doubt see a career advisor or look at different job roles online and see what appeals to you.

18 and desperate. A man does not have to take himself too seriously until he is 30 so you have lots of time. Here is my advice for the next 12 years.
1. Stay off drugs and be sensible with alcohol.
2. Try out lots of different jobs to see what you are good at and what you like doing.
3. In a few years you will be able to look back and start to see where your talents lie.
4. Develop them maybe with some academic book work thrown in.
5. When thirty and a man try to get paid for doing what you are best at and enjoy, marry the woman you have gotten to know well, raise a family etc. the old life is over.
6. Above all remember that you are Irish (I assume) so thank God for that and be proud.

If you don't end up getting into Dell, then it would not have been the right place for you. You're so young to be so desperate so soon. Take a deep breath and take life one step at a time. If you're desperate because you need a job, then work somewhere while you're going to school. If you're desperate because you really want to work with computers, then focus on school. Big companies put a lot of importance on education. There are a lot of major computer companies in the world. Just keep thinking about what you want, and you'll get there. For starters, here's a site you can check out: http://www.dell.com/content/topics/global.aspx/corp/careers/gateway/portal?c=us&l=en&s=corp&redirect=1
Good luck.

What kind of job would you want to do at Dell in Limerick? What do you like about computers? If you write these down you may find it easier to find out why you want to work in computers. You may find an area or areas to specialise in.

Ah, Shane. You're at a great point in your life. Have you considered secondary education with a degree in the field of computers? It's a good way to show prospective employers that you know what you want and that you're willing to learn about it. Plus, in the process, you may find (as I myself did) that computers are not what you want to do with the rest of your life.

Simply consider this . . . for a man, his livelihood (how he earns his income) is a HUGE part of his identity. You want something that you will enjoy, get paid a reasonable amount for, and is fulfilling to you. The question is, who do you see yourself as in 5, 10, 20 years? That will determine what you need to do to get there.

Are you restricted to being in Ireland? If not, I am quite sure there are a number of jobs throughout the UK that need your type of skills. How about considering a complete lifestyle change if Dell don't take you? It could be the best thing you ever did.

Before you do anything. You said you like computers. But what is something else that you have a passion for that you would like to do as a career? Think about it. Don't waste years of your life trying to get jobs that you don't even like when you can have a career doing something you love. When you discover your passion, then you'll know what to do with your life.

Check with a career counselor at your school. If you have a local employment agency they should be able to help you too. You may have to start out at a less meaningful job until the one you really want comes open. Don't limit your possibilities.

if u r desparate, u r in unproper way, u've to b confident.
just complete ur course and then try for the job in ur desired companies and also in other companies.
a very few people works in such companies, and rest of the computer scientists r not dying.
fact is, ur work not ur emotion.
