I have a CSCS card, it stands for Construction Skills Certification Scheme. It is issued when you pass an exam on construction site safety. My employer requires it before I can set foot on a construction site

I think they relate to the Construction Industry Safety Scheme.

It's a little card (the size of a Bank Card) with the name and a photograph of the holder and a list of the equipment they are deemed safe to use, it easy to carry them round in your wallet rather than having to show several sheets of A4 paper. My Dad has got one to say that he is qualified and safe to use certain pieces of equipment/machinery in Road Construction.
