I work at a local Dunkin' Donuts and it is now winter and we have less customers and business is slow. My manager is a 23 year old girl who thinks her stuff doesn't stink and is extremely conceited. We had a staff meeting on Tuesday night and we were all told that the morning shift was getting a lot of our hours cut. The manager told us that she would rotate one week this one will get so many hours and then this one so on and so on. Two of the girls who work with me have gotten the most hours the past two weeks and my hours have steadily declined. I am a humble person who does her job and never calls in. I am always on time and usually come in if I am called to do so. Now wouldn't if you were in the managers position give the reliable worker the hours? I don't understand and was wondering if anyone has any different perspectives for me to comprehend this. I don't smell bad and am not rude to the customers. I just don't know why I am not getting the hours...? help?

I have this job. It is the best paying job that I have ever had,but they treat me bad. Last year I was a cleaner and they promoted me to reception, because a manager had quit they needed the girl at the reception to do the administrative work(she knew how to do it already)Then they hired a new manager and put her back on reception and put me back to cleaning. I was upset but I still did my job. Then the girl who was doing reception got sick so they got me to replace her. She was off for 4 mths. Now she is back she can't do the reception anymore and they are hiring someone else and putting me back to cleaning. I am so mad because nobody told me they had an ad on the internet I found out for myself that they were hiring for a reception? What do you think I should do.

I have been at my current job for a year and a half. I was transferred 6 months ago to another department and I believe I now have more responsibilities and duties, but I was not offered a raise at the time. I believe I deserve a raise now, but I heard from someone who worked here for five years that he never received a raise, but an increased Christmas bonus each year. Another employee is getting divorced and requested a raise to help support herself and she was told to get a second job - she is a loyal employee of four years. Should I ask for a raise?

I interviewed for a position that I really want on Monday of this week. Interview went great and I feel as if I may have an offer by Tuesday of next week. However, this morning I received a call back from another employer who I interviewed with on Tuesday and they offered a position. Now I can either take the job on the table, or should I risk waiting for the other one to call. The employer who offered the job already, is asking for an answer by tomorrow. Help me!!

I have a Bachelors Degree, but it seems like every company also wants several years of experience. I don't have experience, because no one will hire me. What's the solution?

If I don't already have my education and career in my 30s, is it too late to start over? I mean, with years of education ahead, is it worth it to change your career when I'm already in my 30s? Doesn't the job market look down upon late career starters?

My Japanese isn't fluent and I've applied to programs to Teach English in Japan but wasn't able to get in. So what other options are available for me where I can use my degree and learn more Japanese for a job. Moving to Japan usually requires a work visa and a lot of Japanese companies want you to live in Japan before they will hire you... ? Any ideas?

I am currently a Math/Economics double major in university at a private school. For a long time I thought I wanted to be an actuary, but now I'm having some trouble with some of the math. In addition, I also want to eventually open a bar/club and I need the skills to be able to do that. Does anyone know a degree/major that would train me with the business skills needed both to be an actuary and to possibly open my own bar?

After some months of unemplyment I must say this is one of the most stressful situations.I find it very tiring and hard to cope with finding a job.In my case there are different factors that make it harder but I guess everybody has got his/her troubles.
By the way, apart from not getting payed, boredom and a lack of patience are giving me a very hard time.
Any advice is highly appreciated.
