I have this job. It is the best paying job that I have ever had,but they treat me bad. Last year I was a cleaner and they promoted me to reception, because a manager had quit they needed the girl at the reception to do the administrative work(she knew how to do it already)Then they hired a new manager and put her back on reception and put me back to cleaning. I was upset but I still did my job. Then the girl who was doing reception got sick so they got me to replace her. She was off for 4 mths. Now she is back she can't do the reception anymore and they are hiring someone else and putting me back to cleaning. I am so mad because nobody told me they had an ad on the internet I found out for myself that they were hiring for a reception? What do you think I should do.

I think in most states all companies have to allow you to apply for that position, otherwise they are violating equal opportunities which is a law. Many people who are fired from positions have to be allowed to apply again for their old positions. It doesn't mean they have to hire you, but still you should be treated as a likely canidate. After all, you know the position. Perhaps you should work on your resume and find another reception position with a company that will treat you right.

I think that you should sit down with your boss and let him know that you are interested in the reception job. I would think that it would be easier to hire for the cleaning job than the reception job. So they could just put you as the receptionist and hire someone for cleaning. You should definately sit down and have a talk with your boss though. Good Luck and I hope you get the job!

If I interpreted this correctly, you've assumed the receptionist duties twice. They were satisfied enough to allow you to fill that position a second time, and happy enough with your performance to leave you there indefinitely until the regular receptionist returned. Now that she has returned and can't fulfill her duties, you're being replaced by a new hire.

Either management feels you're only marginally qualified to assume the duties and didn't know how long you'd be there, or someone doesn't like or respect you. You need to present yourself as the obvious candidate for the position, letting your performance thus far speak for itself.

Check out what are the qualifications for their hiring and if you objectively think it fits you,
then tell you manager about it.Tell your manager how you suit the position and how you feel about it.But if worse comes to worse you didn't get it,don't feel bad,bec cleaning is good too as long as you know your true worth and doing your job with integrity and excellence.I wish you the best.

Have you talked to your supervisor and let them know that you are interested in the other position? It sound like you are a valuable employee.
