I know there are many companies out there that participate in this. I would rather not send money to try and enrol. I have a god given talent to shop!

My partner hasnt worked for 15 years because she has raised a family. She applied for a job and the woman she asked declined as she said it was against company protocol.

My partner doesnt know anybody else in a professional capacity to ask.

Hi,

I've recently taken a job as a server after leaving my corporate career to return to school full time. I have never worked in a retail or restraunt environment before. I know the type of service I always expect to receive but, I was hoping someone could give me tips, suggestions, or any input that may be helpful.

Thank you! :-)

I went to an interview today (county) and I wasn't in there for even 10 whole minutes. I was probably the sixth or seventh person they interviewed (I saw my name on the list as she crossed it off) it was right before lunch...

I fit the job perfectly in terms of experience, I dressed well, spoke well. But it seemed as they just ran down their list of questions and didn't ask too much from me. I gave them detailed answers and related my experience to their questions. I was also prepared with a resume and references which they should have had, but didn't. Seemed as though I had to offer them information on my background and experience, and they didn't even know (like they didn't look over my resume before I walked through the door).

I think it may have been one of those situations where they already had someone in mind.

Anyone got a job with an interview like this???

I went to an interview today, i wore a clollered shirt with a sweater over it, with some editor pants. All plain colors: Black pant, white collered shirt, and grey sweater. I noticed everyone was wearing solid and BORRING colors. Is it proper to wear maybe a business jacket with a hot pink collered shirt, or yellow shirt underneath?
Why did everyone have on such dull colors?

Every summer i get a job waitressing and make enough money to work casually in the winter. Waitressing is good money but i hate it. It is so stressful and a very condescending environment. So this summer i really want to leave NJ and try something new, but where i will be making money, not spending it. Im in college and now is the only time in my life where i have no obligations and i can drop everything to try new and interesting things. Any ideas??

Hi.

I work as a software developer and some people, at project management level, had give me the responsibility of designing a system knowing that I don't have experience as a designer. I got tired of tell them that we need an experience architect because the system they want is critical for the client's business. But it seems that they don't care about this and I think that they're expecting that I assume the responsibility, even though that I'm clueless and already tell them that I don't know how to do this. So, I don't know what to do. I just wanted to share my situation and perhaps someone had been in a similar position before.

Thanks.

Joe is an assembler on a team with other assemblers. He told one of the test personnel about the way he is treated by others on his team, including the team leader and manager. Joe talks a lot, takes several long smoke breaks during the day, is not detail oriented, easily distracted, and is not proficient at following the build instructions. The team leader and manager frequently keep an eye on Joe and monitor his where abouts. The test person finds many build mistakes with the product that Joe assembled, due to Joe's lack of attention to detail and concentration. If Joe concentrated more on his work, his performance would improve greatly and other team members would respect his work. Joe feels that he is treated different than the other team members because he is a different color than they are. However, seeing things from outside the team, the test person sees that Joe is closely monitored because of his behavior, not his race.

The team leader has heard Joe's opinion on the situation and told the manager. How should Joe's management handle the situation?

I am currently attending Regis University in CO for a BS degree (first one)in Health Care Admin & Mgt. I have 2 yrs to go. I dont want to settle with just a BS degree. How much more schooling will I have to do for each? But I cant decide. Im 37y.o. and really dont see myself as ever retiring. I have been working for health insurance companies for the past 10yrs. Also I have done technical health care for 5yrs prior. Im trying to figure out how much more schooling I will have to do for each (I feel soo burnt out right now). I want to know what the salaries ranges are for both fields. But which of the two will be in higher demand? I hate to sit behind a desk but I would like to maintain a higher standard of living. I like to work on my feet. But I also like to look for the loop holes in health care law. But I also hate to write and do research. Is it possible to even do both?
P.S. No lawyer jokes please.

I have been working in the corporate world for 5 years and have found it unfulfilling though I make a decent salary. I long for more out of a job, to making a different, a more flexible schedule, and travel time but I can't seem to find a career that suits me. I have done so much research and am greatly discouraged. I might be asking for too much, in fact I'm sure of it but I hope each and everyday that I will find something that works for me. I would love any feedback/ ideas from anyone that might be able to help. Thank you!

I have a question in regards to what type of mental illnesses are considered automatically disqualifying when applying for a job with the FBI. For example, I was interested in a career with the FBI as either a psychological profiler or something to do with analyzing people, as I would find that job interesting and rewarding. Not to mention I've been told by numerous teachers, counselors, etc. that I'd be perfect for that kind of occupation. The only problem is that in 7th grade I had a phobia of head lice (I know, how random!). The school accomodated me by putting my on home instruction with a tutor for a year, but it turned out that the tutor realized that I wasn't being challenged enough in school, and I was double promoted that summer (skipping 8th grade and going directly to 9th). My question is, now that I'm completely over that, is that still considered disqualifying, as in psychologically unstable? I never took medication for it or anything, if that matters. Thank you!

I was dumfounded to find out recently that my current employer won't give out references to ANYBODY, because of fear of legal repercussions if they supply misleading information, apparently. Are they allowed to do this?! I am trying to apply for jobs at the moment where they require references to cover your previous 3 years of employment, but I won't be able to give them this.

It's so unfair, I'm a very good employee, even if I do say so myself!!
