nothing wrong with that. So long as you get up each morning happy with the job overall. You don't have to be the most successful person in the world to be happy.

it's not necessarily wrong, but you need to make sure you will enjoy doing it for the next 50 years (or however long). Remember that if you invest so much money and schooling into a single job type (such as dentistry or medicine) and then decide that it is emotionally unfulfilling, you will lead a very unhappy life.
but it sounds as if you are not looking at dentistry ONLY because it pays well. If you love people and science, then the extra pay is a benefit, not a reason.

bekah,
If you are happy doing a job and it pays well, you sleep good, and look forward to each day - then go for the dentistry. Your other loves can be studied by computer for what you really want and the good pay job will spring-board you to that special love and passion.I know the Baptists have moble clinics to help people without dental coverage.
I wanted to get a masters in pharmacy where I could get a job as a pharmacy assistant while in school and after geting the Master's Degree and good pay, I could take online courses to help me obtain a goal. Time to decide between CDC etc.
I hope this makes sense.

No it's not wrong if you pick any job because it pays well and you dont care whether or not you'll enjoy it. But, if being happy with a job is more important than money I would say stick to a career that you love. There's nothing worse than waking up every morning and feeling miserable because you hate your job.

If you think the job pays well and want to go into chances are that in the long run you will be unhappy with the job. I would suggest go into a job that you love to do, and dont worry about how much your bringing in. theres a lot of people that do a job that they are unhappy with just for the money.

It would be wrong to pursue a career that doesn't bring in good money. That's what it's all about, earning enough income to increase your net worth so that you have the time, money and freedom to pursue other investments as well as helping those less fortunate.

I don't see a problem with it. I was just pondering this question myself because I plan to become a nurse for the same reason. And the flexible schedule. Do you really think that all doctors and lawyers become doctors and lawyers just because they like what they do. Plenty of them are miserable.

Money is the only reason to work in my opinion, so, no, choosing a career for cash is not wrong.

Go for the money. Money can't buy you happiness, but it definitely buys you options.
Do you really want to spend your life in people's mouths though? Hows about applying chemistry knowledge to regulatory affairs?
