Yes they do. I had someone scam and I contacted the police in the city where the person lived and they arrested that person because they had scammed other people as well. So if you were scammed by someone on Ebay just contact the police department where they live ( if you know ) and file a complaint. Keep any emails or anything that person has sent you. It will help the police.

In order to get the police involved, it would take alot of foot work, finding out their "true location, true names and their true addy's.
It would cost alot of time and money, and I have been there myself, and know too well the feeling of getting ripped off from dead beats on ebay.

You really have to research the seller alot befor you buy from them.Look at there feedback rating and even email a few of their past auction winners to see if it all went well with their buying experience. You can also file a complaint with ebay about the seller under fraud investigation but in the end it doesn't help much to tell you the truth.I suggest that from now on you pay with payapl and take advantage of their insurasnce they offer. It costs a little but if you do not get the product and you have paid for it with paypal 99% of the time you will get a full refund.

Yes,many stolen good are sold on Ebay,a burglary ring was just busted here North of Denver a few weeks ago where many items they stole were sold on Ebay.
You can also file a report at the police station in the district where you bought the item, that is why it is safer to buy from U.S. sellers.
Although I have bought items from Canada with no problem.

When I was at college, a guy in the dorms was arrested for selling computers on Ebay and then never shipping them. He soaked some buyers for thousands of dollars.

Yes but it depends on the amount of money or value of the product. It also depends on the laws in your state. It could be a civil matter, small claims. I hope it was not a large amount of money you have lost.
