I have 2 small children with my husband. He won't let me work full time even though I have more qualifications than him. He hates his job, in a factory, he works nights and he hardy sees me or my kids. When I do see him he is always miserable because of work, it's understandable, I wouldn't wanna work nights in a factory. I have said loads of time that I would get a job and he could work part time. At the moment I work in a supermarket, I enjoy it but I would like a more challenging job really. I would be able to earn more money than him, I have already found a job that is £15,000 a year staring salary, and I know somebody who would put in a good word for me there. He won't even look for a different type of job, he won't work anywhere other than a factory. I understand if his pride was hurt if I was the bread winner, he's so old fashioned! it really gets me down sometimes, knowing we could have a better life, but he will always treat me as the dumb house wife, who needs a man!

I work first shift and I have to share a desk with the Second shift person, who is fairly new, so we havent been sharing more than i would say three months. i have always used the middle drawer, i have my personal belongings, plus office belongings in it. when my desk partner first got here he started using it as well, i never said anything but it really bothered me, as i had personal stuff in there (there is no way to lock it) so anyway i took out my personal things and left only office things just trying to be reasonable, now i am noticing things like my pens and pencils being chewed on...i definitly do not do this. how should i handle this situation. he has an option to use his own drawer but for some reason has always used mine. i dont want to be rude about it, but its so unsanitary. any thoughts??

There is a very nasty little imp at my work. She tells the bosses every move we make thinking it'll get her ahead. I told her what she could do with her attitude about a year ago - it shut her up for a while.

Now the angry beast has woke up and she's ready to fight again. She goes from saccharine sweet to nasty biatch in 5 minutes flat - even insult you to your face and making a log of what everyone in the office does. Immature stuff.

When is the boss going to see this and let her go???

I recently modified my resume to better reflect my skills and accomplishments. The new resume is a signficant improvement.

I'm thinking of sending the new resume to several companies who already have the old version.

I believe the new resume will be a better advertisement for my skills and I believe that sending the new copy will be a way to make sure that I am still in their mind.

The downside is that I could annoy the employers and they might question why I made the changes.

What do you think? What would you do?

I am currently in a dead end job. I get great experience but the office I work in is not run professionally and I make $10 an hour. I have a degree in Public Relations and Political Science. What can I do with this degree? I have some great internships experiences that equal out to about 2 years total for relevant exp. I have been at this job for about 10 months now and i want out! THere is no room for growth and my position is funded so there is no hope for a raise. Any suggestions?

Money doesnt matter much to me, but I want to make enough to move out of my parents home. HELP!!

I interviewed last week for a company I really wanted to work for. The position was just what I wanted, it was a dynamic company, would have been a short commute and with excellent pay. I ended up one of the top two candidates. Even though the recruiter thought I was the best person for the job, the company went with the other person. I interview well, have a great resume and a great personality. But, I just keep getting passed over for jobs. I was downsized at age 50 (along with 10,000 co-workers) from a giant telecommunications company in 2002, had one totally crappy job for three years and am now unemployed again. I just can't seem to get back on my feet, both career wise and financially. It's really beginning to get to me. Anyone have any words of advice/wisdom?

If not what would you change about it, and if you would choose a different profession what would it be? I went to school for Office business training and I am A/P for a big Lumber Supply Co. Don't get me wrong, I love my job at times, but it's not my calling. I would love to go back to school to be an Elementary teacher, I work full time and I have two kids and a husband to take care of, it's just hard to find the time to work school back into my busy schedule. Tell me about your job.

My husband and I have our own powerwashing business and recently added painting to our services due to customer requests. My brother does the painting for us and we charge him 10% commission. Now he says he feels like he is working for free because he is family and we should just give him the work without any profit for us. We pay for all the advertising, our other employees are paid to pass out fliers, and my husband is a great salesman. Are we being unfair to my brother by charging commission because he needs the money? It is only $30-$75 at a time we get off his work that WE find for him.

this directed mostly at employers. If a person comes in, filles out one of your job applications, but does not give age or date of birth, would this raise a red flag with you?.Might it make you think that some thing was purposly being kept from you? and even yet you being asked why his age or date of birth was being asked of him?

I ask , because I beleive my age is going aginst me, and no one so far has actualy checked me to see if I can effectively handle the possition applied for.My gray hair, age or slight limp , ought not be deceiding factors in hireing some one. Yes we all hear that places do not practice age discrimination, when looking at prespective applicants. We don't do it because law says it is not right.
turn gray, be over 50 and have a very slight limp, and go out and look for work. you'll find, that age descrimination is stil alive,

I am 19, I do sales and I make $10 an hour, plus commision, about $40 a day. Unfortunately, I live 30 miles away, and I drive a large SUV, I spend about $100 on gas weekly. I like the job, but I have to be there every morning at 7 a.m, its kind of taken over my life. I spend about 1 and a half hours commuting everyday because of heavy traffic. I am always in the top bracket of sales, if not number 1, and I am very consistent. I can sell anything, even ice cubes to an eskimo.

I am moving out on my own in the next few weeks. I had a certain amount of money made into my budget, the company is expanding, and the sales might get dry, and I might become broke.

I was up for a managing job, against a 22, and 21 year old who have been here longer. The married 22 year old got it, and she deserved it.

Should I ask for a rasie, I am very dependable, and consistent?? Or should I look for a better paying job closer to where I live??

My friends dad gave me a job in a time of need but after the first couple of weeks now i'm realizing that i hate it! i hate everything about it and i've been in tears after leaving work the past couple of times. it's just a hostess job at a nice restaurant and i would normally just quit but i promised my friends dad, one of the managers, that i would give a two weeks notice. i've never actually done one before and i'm not sure as to what i should say in the letter, would much prefer a letter vs. talking with anyone ( they can all be pretty mean). i wanna tell them in some way that it's just not the job for me, any advice?
