i'm near chicago and reputable places don't hire until 15 at the earliest and thats with a school permit. if you are looking to make an honest buck you might try handyman services for people in the community or if you know someone with a small buisness maybe they can find you something part-time.

You can get a permit to work if you are under 16, which will allow you to work at your age. There are specific rules regarding the amount of hours and times you can work which are covered under the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act. Try doing a google search for these laws and how to apply for a permit for your respective state. I would get the permit first, and that will then help you determine which places are available for you to work. Good Luck!

Usually, your local ice cream shop will hire you at age 14. It's a great place to start!

Look for unconventional jobs. Some jobs I had when I was under the working age, paintball referee, stadium food vendor. Try being creative and not just make money but develop your abilities or learn new hobbies. Whatever you do it'll be impressive later on.
