Give two reasons why it is important to set objectives for your self development to achieve long term goals.?

I did what felt good.
I have my own business now I love it.

1. Because making up bizarre notions like this keeps some pen pusher in business
2. Because if you didn't, when you go for an interview, the bloke who's asking the questions (who's read No 1's 'Interview Technique' book') would make you feel a right idiot for not preparing an answer for that particular question.

You'd set objectives in order to reach your long term goals. Said another way, in order to achieve your goals you'll need "half way" marks to achieve and/or you'll need certain skills.. your objectives should be to achieve the half way targets and/or acquire certain skills.
