i have a slight work dilema... i guess my bf's mom's 50th bday party is the weekend of the 27th.. i thought i'd be able to work that weekend.. until i found out thats when her party is.. (she lives four hours away.. so it makes it hard to do both).. my manager usually takes the weekend work as he can bank his hours.... My co-worker is not really up to doing more then he has to..and i'm not sure if he will work that weekend.. as he has to check with his wife to see if they are up to anything that weekend.. anyways.. so that leaves me possibly staying home to work that weekend.. to get to the party my bf will have to take our car.. leaving me with no transportation in which to get to work..

so. can i ask my work to either pay for my cab.. or pay me for the time to take the bus (which will probably take an hour each way as our bus system sucks **** )

i can't really see myself asking that.. as i'm not that type of girl/worker to complain or ask for extra.. but yah what is a girl to do?

I will be relocating to Minnesota soon, and even though I am quite qualified for a job, I am not getting any responses. Is this because they don't like the risk of knowing that I am out of state right now. Need any advice please.

Ok. Someone hit me with reality. I work at a call center and Ive been there for 3 1/2yrs. I absolutly hate it. Management is horrible they are a bunch of idiots who only have their job because they either sucked up or slept with one of the homosexuals that run the joint. If someone from management doesnt like you they will do anything to get you fired. Ive seen it thousands of times. This place is probably the best paying job in my town. I might get an opportunity get a great job in Austin, Tx but I am not prepared start living somewhere else, but I dont want to waste another minute in a dead end job. I am tired of living paycheck to paycheck and working at a place where there is no opportunity unless you are gay or have no integrity. I dont want you people to think that I am whinning Im just fed up. I dont know what to do. Should I risk it or should I suck it up. I am in dire need of advice.

How much weight do the results of a personality test carry when applying for a new job? More employers seem to be giving these surveys but they all say that there are no right or wrong answers but I think they are much more critical than they would have us believe. Here are a couple that I've taken recently: DISC Profile personality survey and ProScan.

I am currently a full time student in an evening paralegal program. I wanted to intern at a law firm to gain more on the job experience.I started networking with different law firms going and introducing myself personally. One attorney told me that it would be good if I can have a "networking" card just like business card mentioning that I am currently a student and seek experience in a law firm.
Can anyone help me with the wordings? I would also like to know what kind of resume can I use to go with the card, I have not much of an experience in any one field, I was a teacher for 9 months, I was a product demonstrator for 8 months and so on. Thank you all

At a job interview:
1) How much are you making at your present employment? (Do you like to be asked this question? I wonder if others were also asked this question.)

2) Why are you looking for a job? (Obiviously, you can't tell them the obivious reasons like I need to work, I need/want more money, my other job sucks and etc)

3) Do you have a security clearance? (This is something that has to be obtained through an employer and is unobtainable by an individual him/herself which is how I answered this catch 22 question.)

I have a problem seeing blood, I have fainted a few times at the sight of my own blood and get a weird feeling at the sight of other people's blood, but I have not ever fainted at the sight of someone else's blood. I was looking to become a radiology tech until someone told me there was a good chance that I will encouter a bloody patient. What other options can I choose from in the medical field that have a low or no chance in seeing blood?

I have co-workers that I'm friendly with (lunches, shopping, phone calls), but I still keep them at a distance, because if a female friendship goes bad on the job, watch out.

Three co-workers are making some poor choices, but I'd rather just mind my own business than try and offer up advice (it's been requested), because I don't like my name coming up in work drama and people tend to kill the messenger.

Do you agree? Am I right to want to just be friendly, but not get into the middle of the work drama of others? We're all adults and professionals so we should know by now (ages = 30s-40s) what to do and not to do in the work place.
