He left his job of five years to pursue insurance. AFLAC was the first to contact him after passing his test. I cannot determine if this is going to be a good step for our family.

A position with ANY insurance company will be good for your family. I know people who have told me they never made more money than they did working for an insurance company. Hard work required but that is the same with any position worth having. Good Luck>

Why not research the company at www.aflac.com. If you see anything that you don't agree with, tell him he shouldn't sign up with them. Then you can do some more research and find a company you prefer him to work with.

Aflac provides an associate with a writing number, this writing number is basically for life. He can write only Aflac policies if he wishes, or he can also be independent for another insurance company, say for instance a Health Insurance broker.

Whichever route he takes, I wish him the best of luck.

I am sure the coverage is good but they are VERY expensive so he's got to be able to pursuade people why AFLAC is the best choice. I couldn't be convinced of it and went elsewhere. I would rather have good coverage at an affordable rate than work with a company that has a big advertising budget... paid from my premiums!!! Congratulations to him on the job. He'll eventually know if he made the right choice or not and can simply move on. At least he's employed!!!
