No- in order to become a certified medical assistant you must pass the National Certified Medical Assisting exam.

You can become a Certified Medical Assistant with just a diploma in medical assisting. You do not need the associates degree!

I've heard some people say that an associates degree in medical assisting is just a waist of time and on the other hand I've heard people say that if you you do have an associates you will get a higher paying job.

I'm choosing to just get my diploma. IMO I think most places are looking for Medical Assistants that are certified not so much if they have an associates degree or not

Required Training for Medical Assisting:
Most employers prefer graduates of formal programs in medical assisting. Such programs are offered in vocational-technical high schools, postsecondary vocational schools, and community and junior colleges. Postsecondary programs usually last either 1 year, resulting in a certificate or diploma, or 2 years, resulting in an associate degree.

FYI: Although medical assistants are not licensed, some States require them to take a test or a course before they can perform certain tasks, such as taking x rays or giving injections.

NOTE: Employers prefer to hire experienced workers or certified applicants who have passed a national examination, indicating that the medical assistant meets certain standards of competence. The American Association of Medical Assistants awards the Certified Medical Assistant credential and the American Medical Technologists awards the Registered Medical Assistant credential.

That's:

science not sciense
make not make;s
assistant not assistant.

I'd go for typing classes first, before taking up applied science. Applied sciences are the ones that directly related to the real world - Physics, Chemistry and Biology traditionally. This is as opposed to "pure" science. Notably pure mathematics - especially calculus.

Depends on your state's requirements. In NY, yes. In NJ, I've heard no.
