Stand your ground. Go in and be respectful, calm, and cool, but let your boss know what is and is not your fault. Also, be sure to address how to best prevent issues like this from arising in the future. In other words, how can the two of you insure that work is done, or done properly, when you're not there?

Never, never let anyone talk down to you or disrespect you. Especially not your boss no matter if you were at fault.

I have heard company owners encourage a rude and mean behavior for their supervisors and/or managers. They feel that work gets done by intimidation instead of being firm and professional. Always stand your ground and back your argument with facts only. What's he or she going to do? Fire you for being right? Whenever you decide to go in and talk to your boss, do not be intimidated nor afraid just make your argument in a professional way and she will have to take it or fire you. If she chooses the latter you can always opt for legal action.

I think you should separate the decision of confronting your boss with the decision of changing jobs. On the first one, I think you should confront her... maybe she expected you did something before leaving to have things done while you were out... I'd clear that first. On the second one... besides needing the job, do you enjoy it? if the answer is maybe, then you should give some time to have a certain answer... however, if you don't enjoy what you do, you should look for what you enjoy doing.. either inside the same organization or outside...

You have to stand your ground for two reasons. First if you take crap from her and you know you don't deserve it, you will beat yourself up for a long time because of it. Second even if you have told her how it is (at work, I mean) she needs to hear it again, maybe this is the time she finally "gets it" Good Luck>

Go in and expect the usual and if the boss fails to live up to what you expect you will be surprised...I would look for a different job...you went in there looking and you will go out looking (hopefully not for long)

If it was me, I would start looking for a new job, and quit the second I got one.
