this directed mostly at employers. If a person comes in, filles out one of your job applications, but does not give age or date of birth, would this raise a red flag with you?.Might it make you think that some thing was purposly being kept from you? and even yet you being asked why his age or date of birth was being asked of him?

I ask , because I beleive my age is going aginst me, and no one so far has actualy checked me to see if I can effectively handle the possition applied for.My gray hair, age or slight limp , ought not be deceiding factors in hireing some one. Yes we all hear that places do not practice age discrimination, when looking at prespective applicants. We don't do it because law says it is not right.
turn gray, be over 50 and have a very slight limp, and go out and look for work. you'll find, that age descrimination is stil alive,

It is against the law to ask the age of an applicant. We had to take it off our applications about 10 years ago.

If you believe that you are being discriminated against because of your age you are entitled legal protection under Title VII.

I would not leave off your DOB off of an application because human resources needs to know that you're of the legal working age. They have not seen you and do not know what you look like, for all they know you're 15.

I don't mean to be critical, but one reason that you have not been contacted by potential employers might be your spelling. I see a lot of spelling mistakes in this question and that is something that is a turn off to employers.

oh i agree.i had to leave my job, because i had to leave town for a while on a family emergency. when i finally came back to get a job,i bet i put in 50 applications.they were ok until they saw my age,and that changed everything. they said they would call me and never did. that kind of speaks for itself. they say they dont discriminate but i know they do.by the way,i am over 50 also.

If you don't include your DOB and refuse to, they can round-file your app! :(
