So I have an aunt who has been working as a housekeeper for a hotel chain for 23 years. She has never had problems or an altercation w/ employees, bad behavior, or problems w/ her supervisors, managers, etc. A new supervisor was assigned to her department about 6 months ago and she's pretty hostile. Last this supervisor was in a bad mood. After my aunt finished her rounds of cleaning over 22 rooms, the supervisor went to check the rooms and suggested a minor probs w/ the way the job was done. Called my aunt a "stupid B***C" and told her to get back to work. My aunt asked her to repeat herself and again she called her a "stupid B***C". In response my aunt called her and her whole family a B***C. A security guard who over heard them asked my aunt if she was okay...my aunt said "no, i'm not okay". The met with the GM and who also got cussed out by the supervisor and he fired on the spot. My aunt was asked to get back to work..she finished her rooms and on her way out (continued below)

I work at a small company and everyone is really self-sufficient. Even though the company is small, sometimes I feel useless and like no one needs my help. There are times when I can spend the entire afternoon doing nothing except surfing the web and e-mailing friends. Does anyone else feel this way? What can I do about it?

I recently applied online for a job with a large company. I'm a perfect fit for this job and I meet or exceed all their requirements. I'd like to take an additional step in order to make sure that they carefully consider me for this job. I'm thinking of snail mailing an additional copy of my resume. I've done some research online and have found the name and address of the company's recruiting managers in the local office.

My problem is that I'm not sure what to say in the cover letter to explain why I'm sending a paper copy of my resume to her. Below is the opening to the cover letter. Please keep in mind that I have several more paragraphs that go into detail regarding my qualifications.

"I recently applied online for the XYZ position within the XYZ group. I am sending you my resume and cover letter because I am a strong candidate for the position and I want to make sure that my qualifications are given careful consideration."

What do you think?

I'm writing a letter to a registered nurse. While I know to refer to a Doctor as Dr.Joe Schmoe in a letter, do I refer to a Nurse as Nurse Joe Schmoe? Or is it Joe Schmoe, R.N.? And how would refer to them in the Salutation line?

I want to yell and scream at them, the idiots. This is two months ago I was approved a 3% raise and they owe me retro pay as well. They are firing people at every chance they get so I want to be diplomatic . . . but I also want my money.

Wife was fired from employment due to "personality issues" with supervisor. I understand the whole at-will employment scenario, and that there is probably no recourse despite the fact that this was non-job related, eventhough there had been no written notices or warnings or any documentation of malconduct in employee folder (or is there?)
My question is that the person who did the firing was a relative of the owner, but might not have been "officially" documented as an employee on payroll? Would this in any way affect this outcome if my wife had been fired by someone technically not an employee? This person is basically just a relative assisting in the office, although im sure they consulted with the owner (aka her brother)

I'm so tired of being poked. And i don't even use drugs. Is it possible to have a urine test instead? And is it a good thing to request urine test instead of a blood test?

2006-12-20 06:40:33 · 5 answers · asked by Anonymous

What to do if your immediate supervisor a (captain) comments that you are on drugs? We all carry guns. I do not use drugs and if this continues i will (on my own) take a hair follicle,
blood and urine tests.

I have been doing this career for 21 years and I am not happy. I love children and worked in day care at my church over the past 5 years and am a foster parent in my state. I think at the age of 40 I am ready for a change. I am totally bored and not gaining any new skills or growth in legal. There is no room for growth or upward transition except if I want to be an attorney which I do not.

I'm leaving a consulting firm to work for a law firm in Office Services/Facilities. I have not given my two week notice yet due to just finding out I was hired just today.

It's my first immediate transition from one job to another, where in the past I had months between positions and had lots of time to prepare.

I still have to write my resignation letter to my supervisor, notify the rest of the team, and prepare for a new wardrobe (more casual dress in the law firm) to wear to work. What would the best way be to notify my current teammates?

Should I just wait until December 27th, when we come back from XMas vacation? Any feedback will help! Thanks!

I have been with a company for over a year and just had a situation where I applied for an internal promotion but the peer that won out was a "favorite" of supervisors, has no experience in that position, is protected (can't do no wrong) and has anger issues. I was a "perfect" fit for that job, but just can't win em' all..... That instance of favoritism and office politics led me to actively seek alternative employment with another firm. I just received a call from my recruiter that they want to hire me and that the benefits/pay is double what I'm making now.

My immediate supervisor is on two week vacation until the 1st week of the year. Our director and office manager is here on site, but who should I address the letter of resignation to? I think my boss is on internal e-mail and think I should just send it to her with cc's to the others. How and when should I break the news to the rest of the team too? They have the right to know immediately too. Thanks!

Hi, can anyone tell me the best approach to take in asking for a wage rise? We havent in my job, got a structure in place but the department that I am part of, does. They are paying for my degree and this may seem greedy, but for the job I do as well as being there for 2 yrs, I feel I earned the rise. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
