I'm so tired of being poked. And i don't even use drugs. Is it possible to have a urine test instead? And is it a good thing to request urine test instead of a blood test?

Most places will simply require a urine sample, and send that off for drug testing. However, if you're going to be working in say a hospital or clinic, then they might want a more extensive test involving the drawing of blood.

It's really not your place to tell an employer which one to perform, as they know which is the one for that particular job. Seems to me that you're applying for jobs that are more highly "medical" in nature, where the risks are greater.

Not all drug tests are blood tests... some companies offer an oral swab... it is similar to the size of an xray you get at the dentist- you only have to hold in on the side of your cheek for about a minute- and presto. Unless you are in a really rural area- you should be able to request one of those. None of the companies we use even do urine anymore (too easy to use someone elses).

Hope this helps.
I hate needles too.

Pre employment is usually a urine test. Blood tests are performed on existing employees if a problem is suspected.

Actually urine tests are the standard unless you are a bomb technician or something to that effect.
