I am working on an application to be a resident mentor at my college. The question I am struggling with is: "Why do you want to be a Resident Mentor?"

What do employers generally look for in an answer to such a question? Any help is greatly appreciated. I feel like this is the most important part of the application.

I was also given a score on the test. I was never very good at math. But I think that a visual mathematician wouldn't necessarily excel in traditional math anyways. Here is what the test revealed:

- I am gifted at spotting patterns in both pictures and numbers.

- I am able to see the big picture.

- People trust my instincts and turn to me for direction. Especially in the workplace.

So what type of career would I be suited for? I am 31 and must find out pretty quickly! Thank you.

I want to get into personal training, so, I interviewed w/ a rather large, corporate fitness club. anyway, they're opening a new club on Jan 1, and I went into this thing w/ no training or experience (I just work-out & have a dance background) and all of a sudden last week the mngmt. approached the two other new hires & me w/ a huge list of things to accomplish for the grand opening on Jan 1 incl. 10 training sessions in all areas of fitness to do w/ potential members, several 1 hr. seminars that we have to present to like, 100 people,& we're expected to learn aerobic classes in 1 week & then teach them on stage and I have NO training!~ we haven't even recieved our or studied our info. for certification yet. I feel totally overwhelmed and just want to back out on this thing right now! I've been w/ them for 2 weeks. WHAT should I do?!

I've already done the on-site interview and now as part of every manager position with this company, a physchological evaluation needs to be done. I've fairly new to the process but have never been asked to do one. Anyone know what to expect? I guess there are firms that specialize in this?!? Thanks!

I am currently working for a company who has an employee who is verbally abusive to me and has been for about two years, since I started. I have reported every abusive situation to the supervisors and they fear that if they reprimand him, the employee will file a law suit against the company. They have discovered that he has done this in the past. The problem is, he has been verbally abusive to all the other employees on our shift and our supervisor. He has even shoved another supervisor duing an altercation in another department. The company out of fear of a lawsuit from him and the Union will not handle the situation. He has made numerous accusations that have been proven wrong and outright lies in order to turn other employees against each other. One of his accusations has even involved our supervisor and a fellow employee to lose two days work without pay. The company was supposed to give a letter of reprimand to him for filing false accusations, they never did. How I know, this was when he went to the Union president demanding that the letter be put in his file. I feel that he is purposely trying to be fired so he could file a lawsuit.

My problem is, two days a week I have to work with him without a supervisor on duty. During these days he has verbally abused me, cursing at me, and calling me a "****** Christian." He has made numerous accusation against me telling the union and the other shift employees that I am using my cell phone to record and video tape their conversations. Not only is this not true, my cell phone does not have any such features. Since I have confronted the Union about the problems I've been having, they also refuse to do anything. I continued to report the problem to the supervisors. Just recently the Union voted to install new regulations which say that if anybody goes to management to report a problem they will be fined a fee equivilent to one years union dues which is about $500.00. So in other words, even though everybody knows about the problem, I am not allowed to report any problems to management, therefore I don't have any recourse if this person's abuse continues or even worsens. On December 17th, I endured 30 mins of verbal abuse with name calling and cursing. I informed my employer that I don't know what else to do and that I want to transfer somewhere else with the same pay because the situation between us is only getting worse and I felt very threatened and I fear that physical violence may be next.

My question is : If the company doesn't do anything to resolve this situation what is my next choice of option since I do not want to quit? Also, I want to know what is the legality of the ruling the union put into the bylaws preventing an employee from reporting such actions?

How long do you have to go to school for, what do you start out doing, and what exactly does your job like on a daily basis after you start?

interested in going back to school, but I get sad that Im so behind what I could be. I did go for my esthetician license, which is what I wanted to do, but its hard to start up your own business, and Ive sorta wished I didnt waste the time or money on that profession. I feel crappy. I think about going to school now, but Im ready to have a child in the next year or so, and then I will be busy with school, and then a new career. I just feel so lost and like I took the wrong path. I had no guidance, no one to push me. :( Now Im stuck with the results...

I have never worked at a restaurant before, and I am going into see the manager of a mid-scale Japanese restaurant this afternoon about a position they have as server. What should I expect as far as paying goes? Do they usually pay hourly, or do you just collect tip? What a reasonable wage to expect from something like this? I know it varies from place to place, but I just wanted to have an idea so I wouldn't be going in blindly. Thanks so much!

He's new at work. We listen to the radio or CD's in the back office and my co-worker was listening to rap. He came in and said to her, "why are you listening to that N-Word music?" I'm sure you all know what that word is. To me that is not acceptable especially in the work place. She took a huge insult to it because her husband is from Jamaica and for other obvious reasons. She confronted him about it a day later and he didn't even say sorry and just walked away. She had a run in with another manager and talked to HR about her so she's worried if she says something about this situation, it'll look like she's trying to start trouble. We all suggested she talk to HR about what he said but she hasn't and continues to bring it up in conversation with us. Whether or not he was trying to be funny, you just don't say certain things at work. Don't tell me to mind my own business because we all work closley and what happens there effects all of us. Any advice?
