I've already done the on-site interview and now as part of every manager position with this company, a physchological evaluation needs to be done. I've fairly new to the process but have never been asked to do one. Anyone know what to expect? I guess there are firms that specialize in this?!? Thanks!

Well for further explanation: They are setting up the evaluation at a firm that specializes in these and I was told they usually last 6 hours. The firm is about 3 1/2 hours from the facility so it is a pretty important part of the process; I'm just not sure what to expect.

They might also give you a computerised assessment of how you prioritise your duties or react to time pressure and information overload.

Good luck!

Each firm does their own testing so it is hard to tell you exactly what to expect. One of the more common testing that is done by companies is to ask you a series of questions and what your reaction to those questions might be. This gives them an insight to your integrity, honesty, leadership potential, ability or desire to learn new skills, how you react to stress, and overall how your mind works. I've not heard of one that lasts 6 hours so it sounds like they will be testing you not only in a written format but maybe also some kind of physical testing - hand to eye coordination, handwriting analysis. Just make sure that you get a good nights sleep the night before and be ready for what ever they put in front of you the day of testing.

-The interview is already part of the psychological testing. It measures your overall behavior, your non-verbal communication, as well as your answers.
-Another form of psychological testing is graphology. They might ask you to write an answer for a specific type of question, and besides your answer they might also carefully study the shape, form, stype of your letters, as for the way you write with your hand tells them everything about your personality traits.
-Another -I believe less common form- of psychological testing is done in groups. They may measure how you react in a group interview, how you respond, what role you play in the group, how you may be able to interact with others in the group.

I'm not an expert on this field, but I believe these things are all parts of a psychological testing when selecting the most appropriate persons for a given job.

There's really no standard here, as it can vary widely from one place to another depending on company needs. It could be as simple as providing you with scenarios or simulations of events you might run into on the job to see how well you handle them.

It could be a battery of tests to evaluate mental status, personality, anger levels, etc.

The bottom-line is NOT to be nervous and to just do whatever they ask and do your best. Be yourself!
