If he's a "gadget" guy, he probably has everything in that area that he can already justify buying. What about tools? I'm a gadget guy and love tools also. Chances are he doesn't have every tool he could use. What about a really nice cordless drill? There are lots of other cordless tool options also. Laser levelers etc.
For shopping try Home Depot , Lowes, or Sears.

Have you thought about a Blackberry? I heard that business people like those. Or maybe something more personal. Like a Blackberry with a name engraved in it.

it really depends how much you're willing to spend on him. an ipod can be a really good present because you can do so many things with it. eg music, games, videos, notes, contacts, calender etc or a good phone

Gps is a great gift.... however you didn't write how much money you wanted to spend... get him a tie LOL jk.... maybe a massage. a manicure...i know its kinda girly but you'd be surprised how many men actually get them and obviously they like them because i see a lot of repeat offenders
