You don't have to quit to find another job.

Go find another job. Put your resume out. Then you can give notice. Quitting doesn't look good to perspective employers.

Find out what your destiny is, make the moves to get you there. If it's classes, training, what ever. But line that all up before you just up and quit a job. On a resume quitting with no job in sight does not look good to your next employer. And you would be surprised how quickly unemployment runs out.

Find another job first. If you think your job is holding you back imagine what being unemployed will do. Jobs suck, but they pay the bills and allow you to worry about things such as your destiny because money and finding a job aren't on list. Take night and evening classes to work towards your destiny while you have the comfort of a good job.

Try transfering to a different area within your company. Like that you can keep all the status you have achieved at your job.
If you don't have any benefits such as medical, dental, vision and pension then quit and find yourself anew one. Probably you should look for a new job before you quit your current if it comes down to that.

yes, you should quit immediately if you are blaming your job for your problems in life....

it's odd because i had a husband once who felt i was holding him back. strange, he did no better after he got rid of me...so you have to wonder if you are just blaming your job for problems it did not cause.

but quit, start your own business or take off some time or get a better job. don't stay where you don't want to be. you have options. you have choices.
