I work at a restaurant that is a franchise company not corporate so means it is privatly owned. This past month I have been working my usual shifts but when i deposited my check into my account it BOUNCED! my bank charged me some overdraft charges and such. then again i got paid a second check this time there were no funds available in my managers bank account so i cashed my check very late after telling my boss how bad i needed the money. they charged me extra fees again. so now i owe my bank 80.00. is my boss responsible for paying these fees? im supposed to go see him tomorrow to get my money. and trust me im not gonna work there no more!!!

I work in a funeral home. The manager is not easily approachable. So, discussing this with him is not an option. Here's the problem: He lets an apprentice who he's buddies with conduct funerals without a license. The apprentice was finally caught by the state and temp had his license suspended. The manager expects every employee to keep their mouth shut and cover up for both of them. We were told that any gossiping or talk about it would mean we could be fired. So, nobody is talking. These two stick together like glue and some good long term employees are talking of quitting rather than being a part of further illegal activity that involves the same appentice and cover up by the manager. The apprentice gets away with everything and even gets a company car to drive!! None of us who are actually licensed get any special treatment. Any advice on how to put our manager in his place and what to do with this apprentice? Serious answers PLEASE!

I will be out of the office for about 2 1/2 weeks. A new addition to my group, who happens to be a friend, has volunteered to cover for me. The problem is that I hold a very technical position, and my friend has only 2 weeks with the team, and the position. Should I revise my plans and have a more experienced coworker fill-in for me, or is it okay for me to support my friend and let him learn while handling the issues that I would normally encounter?

I meant after a year working there (part time without benefit), I did the work like full time, but received no benefit, no review. I am not sure if I will have a raise over there. How would you handle it if you don't see a raise or review in the coming year? Should you talk to your boss about it, how would you say it?

A girlfriend of mine I work with was easedropping on our boss w/ an applicant when he said some really sexist, mean and hurtful things about her. Now she is really hurt, mad and upset. She know she shouldn't have been easedropping, and stated that's what she gets, but she's still really upset. Any advice on how to get through this? Things were said like "I could never bring her in front of people" She doesn't have what it takes, "All she wants to do is get married and have kids", SHe's good, but you could come in here and do a bang up job.
Honestly this girl I work with is terriffic at her job, and everybody here recognizes it, Just because she is engaged, she is not even getting married untill 2008, and does not want to "Have a bunch of kids", he doesn't even know her on a personel level. Why would he say these things to this applicant...

I have a couple of friends who started doing this 2 years ago...he's apparently on pace to make 150k this year. He has about 10 loan officers working for him at the moment. He's trying to convince me to get into this field. This seems like a large amount of money making having recently started out. Is this possible?

1. A job that you always love to do. Deep in your heart, it's not only a job, but your hobby and dream of life style. However, this job can't barely offer you enough to make a living. Financially, it's a no-future job. (eg. Photographer, artist, traveller....)

2. A job that you don't enjoy at all but it pays well with good benefits. It's a boring job and you can't seem to have fun working. However, this job offers you stable financial support and a rather steady life that you can pursue your other hobby or life goals outside your job. (eg. a normal routine day-to-day office work.)

Which one will you choose? And why?

A friend told me that businesses don't like to hire people late in the year because they would have to pay them for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years, and that they would start hiring again after the first of the year. Is there any truth to this?

I'm not exactly looking for easy money. I just have 4 kids and can't afford child care. I don't want a scam and I don't have very much money to put up. Prefferably not any at all. It has to be something I can do completely from home. (Please state the source that lets me know the job is legit)

OK, here's the situation. I gegt paid monthly and my money gets deposited automaticly and I just get my paystub from the company. On my paystub I havealomst double the amount of what I usually get. And we don't get any extra christmas money or something like that as far as I know. The money is already in my account. What shall I do? If I tell ask the administration and it was a mistake then I'm pretty sure they take it away. But can I keep it once it's in my account? Or will I HAVE to pay it back if they find out that it was a mistake?
Everything seems right though. It tells me on the top of the paystub my regular salary amount but then it says "blabla dollars have been depostited in your account" And as I said, it's almost double as much.
Please help. What can I do?
