You say thank you, and be glad you got a bonus at all. Lots of people don't. Businesses often determine the size of the bonuses depending on how the business has done this year - maybe the business as a whole didn't make as much this year as last, so there was less money available for bonuses.

If you think it's a reflection on your performance, then try to figure out how you can improve things so next year's is higher. If it has nothing to do with your performance, then don't worry about it.

Good luck.

There must be something that changed threw the year. It can depend on where you work too. Have you had a good year or bad. Where I work our bonus is reflected on how much the company has made threw the year.

A bonus is a bonus. It's something extra. It's not something "expected." Be glad you got it. Enjoy it. Invest it in a mutual fund.

Save it, spend it.

A "bonus" is usually tied to company profits and/or your performance, or it may be totally random. You have to figure out what it might mean. Then act accordingly.

Personally, as an employer, I hate holiday bonus mentality.

I would say sit down andwrite out a letter asking if maybe you didnt do your job as well as last year. I always find in writing letters you can actually say what you want rather than in person.

Some people don't get raises, and some just don't get jobs. Be thankful you have a job.

If you aren't happy look for ways you can start your own business.

I work for a bank and didn't get one. Didn't even get a holiday party. Not happy.

Just suck it up....do your job and ask for a raise at your next performance review.
