We would like to start planning weddings and any kind of party. My mom just retired from teaching so she has lots of time. I am working full time but she knows I will help as much as I can. What is a good way to get started?

First, make sure each of you knows EXACTLY what is expected of the other. It would be a good idea not only to put that in writing, but also to structure the ownership of the company to reflect the contribution of each participant. It is difficult sometimes to keep family and business issues separate, so please treat it like you would if you were going into business with a partner you don't know so well. A written business plan would do wonders.

The best way to get started is by advertistment, make business cards and pass them to people, design an webpage to promote information about weddings. Good Luck!
