I've eaten out at thousands of restaurants, and I can't think of one case where I've seen two waitresses take my order because one was in "training". Not knowing the business, I'm rather ignorant. How do new waitresses get trained?

I am wanting to switch careers after working in IT Development the last 10 years. I am burned out and need change. I would like to get into a less hands on technical role and get into Management. I have an undergraduate degree in Information Systems and have pondered going back for my MBA. However, there are no guarantees this would help me find a better job. I don't mind staying within the Technology sector, but I just don't want to do development work anymore. Your comments are appreciated.

Our managment at work seemed to think it would be fun to tell all the temps that they "think" that our christmas bonus would be put into our checks from the temp agency instead of handed out in cash like the regular employees. Now don't get me wrong I never really expected a bonus, that is until they started "thinkinging" we would get one! They really shouldn't have opened their mouths, because now we didn't get one, and I for one am royally pissed off and want to do everything I can to bring these bastards down. So how do I do it, short of illegal measures?

I report to him yet I still do majority of the work and management still comes to me all the time. I also am being put in a position where I am training my boss on business not only our systems. I do not know why I am reporting to him at all and he is bad for the company. I have been there 10 years and don't want to leave but I don't know how long I can deal with this situation. any advice???

Also my recent work history is spotty after being involuntary separated. I was terminated from a job I had 4 years of service with, then immediately found another job, but was not comfortable and resigned. I was informed that several job offers were pulled due to my job hopping and unable to attain favorable work references.

I put down on my job apps reason for separation from the job I was terminated from "excessive overtime, long commute, and constant on call", for the job I quit afterwards, to pursue better opportunities.

I am looking for more positive reasons to explain my job history.

How many of you think the employees of walmart should quite their crying? I saw a new comercial about people whining because they cant afford walmart's health ins. and stuff. My job doesn't offer health insurance, and you dont see me crying on TV about it. Dont they realize that having a job is a PRIVELAGE and not a RIGHT? If they dont like it, go work somewhere else! It's not like walmart pays less than minimum wage!

If anything walmart gives jobs to the people who wouldn't normally get jobs anywhere else like the retired people and "slow" people. You dont hear them complaining! They're just happy to have jobs!

They all need to relize that Walmart offers amazing prices, and no matter how many TV commercials they put out, people are not going to stop shopping there!

I just began a new job a bout 1 1/2 months ago. As expected being the new kid on the block is challenging sometimes but here's the catch; My boss talks crap about me and I know about it we have a very close working situation and when certain people change their attitude around you its obvious. I have helped her out a great deal since startig and have been keeping myself up and above par since day one.

I have no idea how to handle this situation, and any pointers for a boss who is making things diffuclt would be great!
