I report to him yet I still do majority of the work and management still comes to me all the time. I also am being put in a position where I am training my boss on business not only our systems. I do not know why I am reporting to him at all and he is bad for the company. I have been there 10 years and don't want to leave but I don't know how long I can deal with this situation. any advice???

More and more companies hire from the outside to prevent favoritism and it does work. I am sure your company would allow you to move up the ladder if you were willing to relocate. If you can not relocate then you should do your best at what you have been asked to do. If he is not suited to the company then they will see that in time and it is their decision on what steps to take. All employees should know their place and boundaries - do not think the company does not see this.

Get used to it. i was in a similar situation over the last few years until it got to the point that i went and got another job. It did not take too long before yet another person who knows nothing about what we do was brought in to supervise in my new area. It stinks, but it seems like it is the same everywhere.

somebody thought he was a fit for the company, or they wouldn't have hired him in the first place. Just because you think he doesn't fit, doesn't mean jack sh*t. You are upset because you didn't get the job your self, and you wanted it. You have to respect the position and title. He got it for a reason.

That's life. Been there, done that. That's why I started my own business.
