One night justbefore work was over, my boss asked to speak to me alone. He started to flirt with me, then he tried to make a move on me. His hands were around my waist and he kept leaning in to kiss me when i was saying no, and after saying no for about the sixith time i slapped him. He got angry with me and I told him i just wanted to act like it had never happened and that i'd see him tomorrow. But since then he was horrible to me, he made snide comments and gave me loads of work to do, most of which I wasn't even supose to be doing. A couple of days later he sacked me for no apparent reason. Is there something I can do about this? I'm really upset abut this, I had been working there for years before he arrived, so any advice would be much appriated :)

My friend just quit a tile company, they made up a terrible lie about her work performance so she found another job last week, she went in there Wednesday morning and cleaned out her desk before anyone got there but she's pretty sure her boss knew she was looking for another job, her boss called her today and left a message in a rude voice saying "please bring in a written resignation, it would be for your benefit"
Now is there a difference in her quitting without a written resignation then if she turns one in? i thought if you quit its the same thing as a resignation, could they take away her vacation pay or commission if she doesn't bring one in? this boss is not known for being truthful thats why she doesn't want to ask him what he means, (also he called her last week and asked if she was quitting because there would be so much work for HIM to do) she starts her new job tuesday (also tile company)

We were told that visits to the bathroom had to be done during our official breaks. This is very difficult because in a 7 hour shift we only have one half hour.Looking at this from an employment law point of view, are they legally allowed to do this.

I'd like to know the avg number of your hours you spend sudying/reading your skill for your job whether you are in or out of school. I am particularly interested to know that for those working in IT field. It seems like if you are in IT, and don't continue studying/reading all you can do is end-user support.

My husband has been out of work for about a month now and we need to come up with rent money by next week. He has been doing odds and ends jobs but has only made the bare minimum for us to survive through the month. He has a prospect for a very good job in January but we can't wait that long to pay the rent. What can we possibly do?

I'm leaving the company to go into a completely different field (insurance to teaching). My current company doesn't plan on paying me for the 40 hours of accumulated time off. I've worked at the company for 3 years, don't owe them back wages or anything else, and am leaving by the book with more than 2 weeks notice. Can they withold that time off pay?

Would it be right for a corporation to hire without any proper basis and guidelines for hiring, recruitment, and placement of new employees? What are the legal impediments of this practice? Can someone highly qualified for a certain job file a case against a corporation of no HR office/officer who turned the applicant down because the in charge has the right to choose whoever he wants to place under his department. Is it right to let the hiring be done by operations people, and not be initiated and performed by a qualified Human Resource officer?

Seems like the major thing everybody wants is to have an experience even without a degree. I start questioning what is the point of going to college if U will have such a hard time finding a job?

Hi There,

I have a question that I was hoping you guys can help me out with.

I recently completed my Masters in International Politics and Human Rights. For my dissertation I explored the rise of China's superpower status and its impact on US foreign Policy. I loved the subject so much that I now would like to go a step further and undertake a Phd in the subject. Although I realistically would like to get a full time job as well.

My question is: "Is it possible to undertake a Phd on a part time basis if I am in full time employment?"

My friend says it is. His plan is to get a job with the UN but to undertake a PhD while he is working. It is such a fab idea and I would like to know whether or not it is realistic.

Cheers buddies!

Is there any known programs or ways in which you can track a company's attendance by having them log onto their computer? One company is needing a new method and this seems like a good one where the company does not want to spend extra money on card readers, biometrics etc. All they are looking for is for a system in which employees can log on and then at some point in the day have a report sent to HR with who logged in and who didnt and then follow up with those employees. Any suggestions?

I have worked for this family for 5 years, and finally quit on Christmas Day. My boss will not take my phone calls and says to put it in writing. She still hasn't answered any of my emails, and I am a college student who needs money. I would rather do this without hiring a lawyer, but don't know what my next step will be. HELP!
