Is there any known programs or ways in which you can track a company's attendance by having them log onto their computer? One company is needing a new method and this seems like a good one where the company does not want to spend extra money on card readers, biometrics etc. All they are looking for is for a system in which employees can log on and then at some point in the day have a report sent to HR with who logged in and who didnt and then follow up with those employees. Any suggestions?

My dad invented a pass key id system when he worked for a steel company. I forget what it was called, but it made it so other employees couldn't put in other guys ID for them and vice versa. Most places have a swipe card ID system.

I doubt there is a cheap AND effective way to do that. It's too easy to get someone else to log in for you. Unless you have a secretary enter their ID in for them (so she or he has a positive ID of the person), that may be the best way to do it.

I work for a company that we actually sign onto a phone and that registers when someone comes in. You mention money being a factor but you can even use an old school punch clock for the employees to use. It doesn't cost much and it does the job. You can even go as cheap as simply having them send an email when they sign on their phone which will time stamp when it was sent. You have many options but it depends on how much you are willing to spend. Even swipe card should not be that expensive.

I work for a mortgage company and we use a program called "etime". It does exactly what you are talking about and works great. You might also check out ADP.
