my company does not have short term disability, I can't afford to quit my job, no one else will give me a job having to carry around oxygen all of the time, and I can't file for disability because I am working, kind of a catch 22....Please anyone?

My last boss HATES ME!! Everything was fine until I went to interview for another job (a job I have been trying to get for like a year!). After that he tried everything he could to get me to quit. Made me stay late and then fuss at me about getting overtime. Made me do things that didn't even need to be done while everyone just sat around and talked, then fussed at me when I stopped for two seconds to get some water. After he realized I was not going to quit he said, "We have to let you go because the company is not making enough money right now to keep you." I know that was bull because I delivered $50,000 worth of merchandise to one customer the day before. Anyway... I know he will lie about me. Do I have to list him as a previous employer? If not, how do I explain the gap in employment? Thanks for your help.

OK let me elaborate a bit. I recently moved to a gulf country not a gulf state as in USA.
Job opps in my field are very limited here. So I was really glad one of the three companies in my field here (and the biggest one at that) offered me a job.
But I am in a junior position with barely any responsibilities. I send out faxes and make phone calls – which is not part of the job description but I’m ok with it, but even that takes just an hour or so per day.
The rest of the time I can do anything as long as I’m at my desk and look busy. And there’s no fear of getting fired coz everyone else is also totally under-employed. They don’t seem to mind, but I do!
I don’t need the money desperately, so quitting is an option. Still, I’d like to hear other points of view as well.

I have 10 years of varied marketing experience and a proven track record of success. I have a resume which I believe well highlights my experience and successes. I lost my Marketing Dir. job when my chicaho office closed in 2005. Since that time, I successfully created and opened a successful small business near my home town. I have decided to sell my shares in the business and get back into the traditional work force. I have been looking for a marketing job for over 4 months now and can't even get recruiters to call me back??? I'm not sure if my entrepenuerial spirit has totally ruined my chances of working in the corporate world again. Should I not even include this venture on my resume? If I don't, how do I explain the last two years and what I've been up to? I need advice on how to get back to work soon!

Apparently, the person interviewing me had a family member who worked for my previous employer and eventually go caught in a lie for the length of my employment.. not only that I think she's said negative things about my employment there as well. What should I do?

Let's assume I'm an adult who finished high school, but for whatever reason (maybe I have a child, or I'm working three jobs, or I can't afford it) I never went to college. Also, let's assume I have no assets and no savings, I'm living in an apartment and I don't have any particular skills or abilities. If I were to look for a job, what are my chances of finding something above minimum wage? What is the highest wage/salary I could possibly hope for, if I began an entry level? What are my chances for promotion? If I were earning a minimum wage salary, and I didn't spend money on superfluous things (entertainment), would I be able to survive? Save money?
Would my chances be affected if I were a minority? A female?

Let's say I grew up in a dirt poor, lower class family. My parents, for whatever reason, were not able to accumulate any savings. I go through school and graduate, but when I leave I have no money for college. What are my chances of procuring a scholarship and/or loan? Assuming I procure a loan, what are the chances that I will be able to get a job that affords me paying it back in time to accumulate some savings of my own? Assuming I am able to get a job, how long (on average) would it take me to pay back that loan?

I'm sick of living an ordinary life and have decided to move to Alaska. I'm a 21 year old guy with no real attachments who is looking for a bit of adventure.

Anyways I am interested in finding some kind of heavy labor work in Alaska before I actually get there.

I'm really interested in working as an offshore seafood processor, or maybe something in oil or timber.

I'm really looking for a comany that will pay for my trip either from VA or Seattle and give me a place to live when I get there.
