One of these women wanted my job and she and another woman took our manager out to the local bar and proceed to tell her who liked her and who didn't. The manager proceed to get drunk and came back tot he store and started in on everybody, Because I hadn't clocked out for lunch she fired me. I called our district manager what had gone on and informed him that until she had become manager, I had not had any complaints about my work. It always stems to the fact that I don't kiss anybody's butt

I called and talked to the manager of a store last week. I never got his last name. It's too late to ask him directly (don't ask why). I tried calling and asking the employees for his last name. None of them knew/they said they can't give out personal information.

How do I find out his last name?
I've already tried Google.

I live in Mexico and as far as I know taking a sabbatical year here is not that common. So I can't just say that to the interviewer: "I took a sabbatical year". In many places it's not well thought of. Anyway, I took one, in part, because I underwent minor surgery and also because I traveled for the summer. I don't believe I should disclose the surgery thing and I only traveled for about two months not twelve. What can I say when the interviewer asks me "So, it's been over a year you graduated what have you been doing all this time?" Help please.

I’m an accountant and I’m mainly going to interviews in accounting firms.

Thank you.

I was given my check at the time i was told that i was being let go. The reason i think i was layed-off, is because i didnt mess up or show up late or anything like that, on that day or even the days before it. I was also told that, "This was the first time he had to let someone go because it was so slow." Help me please.

I worked full-time at a liquor store for four years, I quit in August because I found a job with medical and IRA benefits. My jobs included cashiering, stocking shelves, checking in the inventory, updating the website, writing the monthly newsletter and filling pack and shipping any orders we received. Just before I left, a department manager told me this exchange he had with the general manager:
DM: Why haven't you ever promoted Rachel to manager? She's been here a long time and does a good job.
GM: She can't even manage herself.
Granted, I was a mess while my husband and I were getting seperated, but although I was in therapy and on Zoloft, I went to work everyday and did my job.
Now it turns out that while I got a $300 bonus at Christmas the last two years, a coworker of mine (male, part-time) received $1000.
Should I do something besides gripe about this?

I am moving from a civil service job to a private sector equivalent. I have been offered an interview by a big company. They want me to state my "salary expectations". Should I pitch similar to my current job, or higher, or much higher? (There are lots of applicants but very few with my qualifications and experience)

Hi people, I've been given the opportunity to relocate to Australia, with a good financial package, to assist in expanding the business. I was divorced last year, and have one child.

This is a big step.. what would you do in my position? From an outside point of view, what would the pros and cons be of accepting this position on both a business and personal level?

I just started a new job but I am completely unhappy. I've hardly been trained on everything and my manager hates it when I say "I Didn't Know!" Which is why - I'm under trained so I hardly know anything. I'm still in my orientation period and already I want to quit. Do I tough it out? Do I start the job search again?

I work in a medium-size insurance company office. Recently, HR decided they wanted ALL phones answered instead of the calls going directly into voice mail, whether we work in that department or not. We agreed that having a receptionst answer all the main incoming calls is fine but having all of us answer calls for departments we don't work in or know anything about is counter-productive. I now have 15 ringing lines on my phone and the noise and distraction hinders my job performance. The callers get annoyed at times also when I keep telling them I don't work in that department but can have someone return their call or else they can leave a voice mail message. Does anyone else out there agree with me that answering phones like this is not beneficial?

I was applying for a few jobs today because i plan on changing careers from military to civilian. I found that a good 50% of the places that i applied to asked to do a credit report. Honestly what does that prove other than most all of us have had at least one bad mark or two. I don't see its relevance to acquiring a job can someone please explain this to me. I would greatly appreciate it
