I have now had enough of debt collection and thinking of changing careers. I thought the only natural career progression would be credit control management. Would this be a good career move or do you think I should go for something completely different? By the way, I have studied up to 'A' levels, grades are not very good, and have an interest in working with figures and computers. I am in my mid 30s and live in England.

Thanks

why is it when you hand in your notice to your employer they start getting cocky with you? is it better in future not to hand in notice?
i have left a couple jobs on bad terms, and determined to leave this one on good terms, however since it getting closer to my leaving date they tend to get less flexible and mark me down for silly little issues that just wernt an issue before?
is there any reason for this?

A friend was interested in a job (local authority)...after the original post holder left, she was told the vacancy would be advertised in the local press. She's just been told that the post was filled by someone internally - with no experience of this area of work.
Is this legal??
Acas say it is....I keep thinking I've read something somewhere which say's it's not!

I am 24 years old and I work in a boring 9-5 office job Monday - Friday. This I can handle but every Friday night I venture into town centre and get drunk in nightclubs, I am starting to worry that this could be a bad habit, I still enjoy it but not as much as I used to. Thoughts?

OK here's the situation. I have a full time job (working at night) I want another full time job during the day. The problem is I know what job I want and have applied for a position, but I need money NOW! So until I hear from this other job I could just go to a temp agency or I could just take whatever full time job. If I go to the temp agency and the other job calls, then I wouldn't feel bad about quitting (since its a temp job). But if I take the other full time job and the other job calls then I would feel bad about quitting. Of course this is all dependent on the position I want wanting me. So what would you do?

Please tell me what you would do. Here is my scenario: I am a manager for a small mortgage company. I got my friend a job there where she was assigned as an assistant doing database and postcards for marketing. This happened in Oct of 2005. I got married Mach 2006 and started working part time in May 2006. Well,... these past 2 months,.... my freind/co worker has been taking over my work load. I only work 20 hours a week and before when I would come in to work, I would have work sitting for me,... now I dont have too much work. By the time I get there, she has allready done it. She has done a good job, I am not going to lie, but it seems like she wants to take over. Our 2end manager is NOT a gossiper..... she has never been one but she did talk to me last week and told me that when I am not there my freind is very happy and always trying to help my boss, when I am there, she dosnt seem to be content. I feel ackward now..... and I was just offered a better position but there is...(cont)

I have a BA in liberal studies and a BA in psychology. I graduated with a gpa of 3.92, summacumlade, everything. However, you would be amazed with the little job options I have.

My main option: being a teacher. Cons: study two more years to get the credentials/pay not good/the requirements keep adding. The second option: getting a master since it seems I still can't do anything just with two BAs. I live in a rural town & i'm hoping that's the main reason for the present situation. I want to keep learning & travel. I don't have kids, husband, or a boyfriend that could stop me from doing so, and it's not in my plans to get married or have kids.

I know (more like hope) there are employers looking for young, single, hardworking people with ethics and a drive to learn, but I don't know how to look for those kinds of jobs since I don't know what to look for. I don't want to spend two more years "learning" theorical stuff. I want a job that wants me and helps me grow. Any ideas?

I work in a restaurant and all of us get along very well for the most part.

However, there is this one that terrorizes me nonstop. I swear, this girl must have been raised by wolves. She has absolutely no manners whatsoever. Everyone finds her obnoxious, but I'm usually the one that she targets. She'll threaten me and push me or shoot dirty looks at me while walking by. Everyone else notices it too. She always tries to tell me how to do my job (I've worked there 2 years and know what I'm doing).

Today the minute I walked through the door she started screaming at me and threatening me, accusing me of helping other servers steal her pens (which I don't). I got so angry that I started crying (and I NEVER cry in public) and had to run to the bathroom and try to pull myself together.

I have less than two months left here (then I go to college), but I don't know if I can take much more of her before I flip out and quit.

I have been in food and beverage for six years but a banquet manager for the last three years. I started as a banquet server at 16 yrs old and rapidly went from being a server, to a second, to a captain, to a manager and finally to a senior banquet manager. I am now 22 yrs old and looking to find a different job but i don't know anything else other than food and beverage. I am almost finished with my bachelors in business management and I am in need of direction. My drive is money. My current job pays me well. I am currently making $48,000 salary plus gratuities..Roughly 50,000 in Miami, FL.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Well this Jamba store is new(hasn't opened yet), do you think I have a better chance that way? I have no idea who to put for a reference, since I don't think I stand out particularly in any of my classes at school. And for past jobs..I have none. Well just looking for any advice, or maybe first hand experience.

If any of you are wondering what jamba juice is, its one of the main stream smoothie stores, kinda like starbucks and coffee.

It seems every year, I get plastered and do something stupid.
One year I gave a speech at the podium when I wasn't even supposed to be up there,
Another year I hit on the bosses daughter, and his wife.
Another time, I passed out and threw up.
I've gotten fired every time.
Aside from not drinking, what could I do.
And I AM going.

I'm attend college in a town that has a population of roughly 151,000, give or take a few. I'd really like to pick up some extra money to help pay for college, but I can't work until about 5:00 in the evening because of classes. Any suggestions for something that would pay particularly well for my schedule?
