At my university it was $12, which is pretty good for a tutor!

Don't expect to earn that much though.

Get a life!

What do you mean tutors? Actually you're a bit of a dumb s!9#, aren't you? Please ask a meaningful or intelligent question. There is no point in just asking questions to prove that you can use a keyboard, wow!

So back to the pointless question.

If I teach the kid next-door how to trim a hedge, I'm his tutor and I might even do it for free.

If someone wants flying lessons you might be trained for £50 per hour. The man showing you how to fly and taking the money is also a tutor.

Get my point.

By the way what are you wanting to learn.

My neighbor tutors students attending a local private high school in mathematics. He has all the work he wants at $50 per hour.

I think that it depends on the subject that you are tutoring as well as the level of your experience. The low end goes towards $7 when it is a peer and you are meeting at a library to about $35 if you are experienced, going to their house, and are teaching some type of advanced subject.

It really depends on who you are tutoring (what age group), which subjects you are tutoring, and if you are tutoring independently or working for a college or school. I was a tutor at my college and barely made over minimum wage. If you are tutoring independently you can pretty much charge whatever you want or however much people are willing to pay.
