You have to have a degree to be a fighter pilot in the Air Force. If you can get into the academy, it will be a good thing to do. Otherwise, go to college and join the ROTC on campus.
Fighter pilot opportunities also exist with the Navy and Naval Reserve. The waiting list for the Naval Reserves is very long. It would be wise to sign up now.

The AF Academy is difficult to get accepted to. Their stardards are quite high. Becomming a fighter pilot is not easy either. In a cadet wing or academy class, only the top few will get fighter slots. I was in AF R.O.T.C. in the mid 90's and out of our approx 300 cadet wing there were only 2 or 3 fighter slots and about 10 or so transport pilot slots. The academy supplies more pilots than my school Embry-Riddle (which is or was #2 in pilots.) I would concentrate on high school right now and see how you feel (still interested) in a few years. The best thing you can do is keep your grades high and stay out of trouble. Good luck to you.

As the mother of a career Army Sharp Shooter, I'd suggest you try to attend The Air Force Academy College, West Point gave my son a boost up the ladder, and the AF College will help you too. Good Luck.

If you want to be a pilot I would recommend trying to get into the Academy. Its hard to get into but it has a lot of benefits. You dont have to pay to get in, actually they pay you a small fee for being in the academy. Another benefit is you will be ahead of the field when it comes to actually joining the AF because you will have the discipline that a lot of other college grads are lacking when joining the AF.

not sure if it is all the branches of the armed forces but im pretty sure you can get money for college after you have served....dont forget all the training you get in the military...it might change your mind on what career you chose and also might give you something to fall back on in hard times
