I started a job in electronics retail in late Septmber. The problem was that I was unable to get a job at any of the places I wanted to work, so I thought i'd take this as a last resort.

The thing is that I really badly want a job in publishing, and in the new year I hope to look for one. My question is when is it acceptable to quit this current job?

Obviously this job required training and people looking out for me when I started, and I appreciate that. I also like everyone I work with. The thing I want to do is time my leaving to an extent that its not a slap in the face for them.

I don't want to leave too soon because it will make me look/feel ungrateful after they put their trust in hiring me. But then again its not making me happy, and the wages are poor and I have a right to find a better job.

When do you think I should quit. At the moment I reckon mid/late January (i'll have been there 4 months) because its not leaving the company in the lurch (christmas is over by then).

What specifically does the company you work for, and your supervisor do to make your work enjoyable? If you don't like your job, or boss, then why, and what would you like to see changed?

Describe your ideal working situation. Besides more money, what would you look for in a new job? What would an employer need to do to keep you happy if you were going to leave.

My manager is the owner and I find that he wants to be involved in every minor detail and decision which means that its difficult for me to get things done as I hardly see him.

Anyone else in a similiar position or have any advice on how to manage upwards.

Thanks

I work 4 days a week 9 - 5 and commute 45 mins each way as my job is specific and there is nothing closer and Im taking a degree every friday 9-6. There is so much homework it is all I do - at least 4 hour per night - usually more and I still only just complete it in time. Im so tired all the time and I miss my friends but I really want the job I am going to get at the end of this. All I can think about is sleeping. Is there anything I can do to make this any better for me.

Suppose you are an entrepreneur and want to start a new business but you actually don’t know from where to start, what will be your new product and what will be its position in market. You don’t even know that will it be acceptable in market or not. For this, you want some ideas to produce a product which is attractive for consumers. From where will you get some general ideas for new product development?

In my PEP which is an evaluation they mentioned not feeling safe around me and they fear their safety and the safety of my co-workers over rumors that were not true and found to be not true. I was looking for a laywer on this. What should I do?

I work for someone who has caused 5 other people to quit. My company begged me to stay on and I agreed to help them out. Now my boss has set an arbitrary promotion standard so that I am eligible by regulation, but not according to his guidelines. Out of sheer laziness he has refused to review packets on an individual basis. I am exceedingly irritated, as one might imagine. In all likelihood, I will not actually take any revenge, but this is my only outlet to vent.
