It seems every year, I get plastered and do something stupid.
One year I gave a speech at the podium when I wasn't even supposed to be up there,
Another year I hit on the bosses daughter, and his wife.
Another time, I passed out and threw up.
I've gotten fired every time.
Aside from not drinking, what could I do.
And I AM going.

lol damn you sound like an interesting guy! Is there any way you can spike others peoples drinks?the more pissed they are the less you'll stand out... you should come to my work do and brighten it up a little! :p

If you know that when you drink it causes you problems, don't you think it would be better not to drink at the Christmas Party?
I guess you have to determine if you feel it's more important to risk your job by allowing yourself to drink, or if it's more important to salvage your dignity and your job.
Let's say you get someone to monitor your drinking and tell you when to stop? If you are having fun and don't realize how plastered you are getting, would you listen to that person?
If you tell your boss to watch out for you? Would that stop you?
There is a saying about the definition of failure: it's a person who does the same thing over and over again and expects different results. So, how do you change the outcome?

It's funny, because I have a friend who interned with a certain television network and got drunk at the christmas party. She did all sorts of stupid stuff and became a running joke on one of that networks tv shows. It actually opened up an opportunity for her. Sure you get stupid and get fired every time, but you do get back on your feet and live for another year's christmas party. Obviously nobody can change this, but you... and you seem to be set in your ways. Have fun, be yourself, and hopefully you'll take the podium and mistakenly say something that gets you a promotion... worst case scenerio is you get to collect unemployment for a while.

Get a mature hair job, classy clothes...and yes: SUCK UP to your bosses--tough as that sounds and I know is for you because you take a very clear stand against that kind of thing.
Hey, look at it like this: Everyone else is going to do that--so blend in and do what they do. Just do it WITHOUT sipping any alcohol or illegal drug use.

be the secret Santa.......... make sure your white beard is big, so no one knows who you are.
You could warn your boss, and maybe arrange to be the DJ, then you'll be busy, and everyone will assume your being funny because you're the entertainment of the night. You could do stand-up, and instead of everyone hating you , they'll praise you..

if you were to drink,put on your party dress and party shoes and go dance on the table. seriously tho, stay low,be polite and leave earlier so nothing happens.
