Today is my boyfriend's last day at his crappy job. He's starting a new/better one in a week. I was going to take in pizza for his last day but I dont' want to spend $30. Any other ideas? Also, he works at a grocery store, if that helps.

I worked at a work-study job when I was in school. When I asked her if I could use her as a work reference when I started job hunting she was very nice to me and she said that I had a great attitude and she couldn't ask for a better worker. After a while I got to thinking "hey, I could take that two ways". I don't know exactly how work-study works, but what if that was some sort of code for "she was stuck with me"? Does it sound like that might be what she was trying to imply? Should I use her as a reference?

Wouldn't you just love to turn up at work in your jammies and slippers? I mean fleecy pyjamas by the way, not baby dolls!

Please help. Need some advice. Currently stuck in a dead end job. Just offered a great, challenging and rewarding position, with great benefits, working with great people and lots of room for advancement (I mean, lots.... and soon). The thing is I would be taking a $7,000 pay cut. What should I do?

while in college I got pregnant and had a baby I manage to struggle and finish with the help of my ma. I got an internship and the lady was a racist and didnt like me so she made up things and said that i wasnt prepared for my field and i was let go from my internship and graduation was pushed back. I had to wait another semester to complete a whole new intership in which I sucessfully completed then I graduated. then i got a job and my boss hated me, he intentionally singled me out and let it known to my co workers that he intentionally bullied me and gave me a hard time but i stuck it out. It was an at will employment so i couldnt file anything. I got fired after a few yrs I found a new job in a new city and it was a lot better, but I had to leave it because my ma got sick and I choose to help her being that Im an only child and shes not married. Well shes better now and my job that was being held is no longer available to me and when I askd my boss to speak on my behalfto her boss

I went on an interview Tuesday, which went very well. The gentlemen who interviewed me said he was not authorized to hire me on the spot (though he made it clear he wanted to), he had to go over it with his boss (who may require a second interview, though he didn't think it would be necessary in my case). Then he stated that he was essentially "offering me the position, without REALLY offering it"
Ok so my question is, he said I would be hearing back from them in a day or two, (it's "technically been over 48 hours now) but I haven't heard anything yet. In the meantime I have been offered two other jobs with different companies. I need to give them both an answer as to whether I intend to take those positions or not sometime today. My problem is I REALLY want this other job more than the two I've been contacted by. So would it ruin my chances of getting the job if I call and ask if they had made a decesion yet?

a friend to a fancy new restaurant that my boss really wants to try. So, when I returned she asked how it was and I gave a review of everything I ate, including the glass of wine I had. She look annoyed and, in front of two co-workers, said that if I drank at lunch again (this is the 1st time I've ever left the office for lunch at this job in a year) I shouldn't come back to work in the afternoon. Now I feel mildly humiliated. I know my boss has been a recovering alcoholic for years, but can she really forbid me from working after ONE glass of charnonney? I do sometimes have to meet with clients in the afternoon, but not today. Am I overreacting, or is she?

if in the districts employee handbook cell phones are allowed as long as it does not disturbe or disrupt the students or your duty. well for me (bus-driver) i was told that means not while driving or if any students are on the bus. now during our wait time we are allowed to sit inside the schools. well the other day i was told by the front desk lady that i was not allowed to use my phone due to the policies. (now mind you i was in the cafetiria by myself)
i have never had a problem in any other school. can each school inside the district set different rules if they wanted to or do they have to be compatiable with the districts policies???????. a later disscusion with the prinical, she had said it was in her staff handbook. BUT if thats true im not her staff, im an employee of the district. (i did respect the "rule" and went outside) can a school also ban a visitor from using a cell phone in the school?????

So I was hired onto this company that is suppose to be training me, however, all i've been doing is sitting in my office all alone and reading a book. I am getting my first paycheck, and it's been me reading the entire time, and not learning how to do my job. I am getting tired of just reading and want to tell my boss. But she is never in the office. What should I do?

i just turned 5 months preg on sunday. and i had the interview last thursday but did not mention anything about it cause i was afraid that they wouldnt consider me. the job is a receptionist in a big doctors office. im still not quite showing yet but i know that pretty sooon i am going to pop! i am just afraid to tell them!!! i dont want to get fired cause of this! but i know they arent allowed to fire me because im pregnant, but the thing is that im going to be in the 3 months probation or the 30 days thing... so she can just fire me for any little thing.. and i mean i want to continue in this job after my pregnancy! this job offers great opportunities!!! SO PLEASE GIVE ME A SUGGESTION ON HOW TO TELL HER AND WHEN WOULD BE THE RIGHT TIME!!also i was told from quite a few people not to say anything in the interview... and the person that helped me get this job told me not to discuss it in the interview because im not supposed to say anything personal and they arent supposed to ask me.

i recently left my job for a personal matter....my boss later informed me that if i wanted my job back, i'd have to sleep with him....that was a 10 min phone conversation that i recorded....i just played it back to my boss today with the threat of going over his head to the corp.office....he hung up on me and then called 5 mins later and said i could start tomorrow, but he wants that tape...he also wants me to make another tape where i'm saying i won't hold it against him....that he is NOT getting....i told him the tape of you for my job back, that's it....now my problem is this.....what if i give him the tape and he hires me back and makes my job a living hell, or tries to fire me for something stupid....i really want my job back but i refuse to work while walking on eggshells....i have another copy, but also don't want to hold that over his head....i'm sooooooooo confused, can someone please help

Ok, so I just made PTF, I'm looking through all the different health care plans and I feel like I'm trying to learn a new language. I'm a single 25 year old with no health problems so far but I do a lot of risky activities (ie..snowboard,ATVs,etc....) I don't mind paying a little higher monthly premium to insure I wouldn't pay a fortune out of pocket if I broke a leg or something but I'm having a hard time figuring out which is the best "all round" plan. If anyone out there has worked out all the details or had a good or bad experience with these plans, let me know what you would pick. Thanks for the help.
